Hi, this is a picture of a Villiers engine, its off a rotovator and has been stood a while and was told it started but now doesn't have a spark. The coil should read between 3 and 5k so at 4.3 its looking good as far as the coil goes. I've tested the spark plug by plugging it in the LC and it sparks nicely so the plug appears to be ok, the timing is set as it should and the magnets in the flywheel are nice and strong be but no spark when turned over. There is a lead from the condensor which isn't connected to anything but I'm advised that this is to stop the spark when earthed. Is it possible to test a condensor and if so how and what should the readings be, any help and advice very much appreciated. Keep any advice really really simple please, electrics not my strong point. Cheers Spooch

steven seems to be the man for little Villiers engines, I have an old autocycle I've been tarting up on occasions, far from getting it running though, so will be looking with interest at any answers good luck. Are all the magnets on the flywheel attached and coil at a set distance? New condenser? (can you tell I know nothing )

what was the problem in the end? New condensor and the points were set too wide, just need to get the carb sorted now.
