That wheel isn't god enough, but I have a cunning plan. In order to cover the bearings I used 2 large washers and a nut and bolt. So they can blast and powder coat it without causing any damage! Then I had a go at the engine casings. I was hoping to leave them in bare metal but some minor repairs are called for so satin black it is then... Then the seat...I trimmed the front edge so it is even and with yet more CAD I got the tank and seat to line up. Now that's more like it! Alex

Some engine casings are done. The usual method (well, usual for me that is!), get them down to bare metal, repair any damage, etch primer, BBQ matt black then high heat gloss lacquer and you end up with a great satin finish... Then I tackled the front disc. It came up like new, very pleased with it! Alex

And that's just what I did. Final engine casing...before and after I do need some of the metal Yamaha decals but they can wait for now as that involves buying them Alex

The wheels are back from the powder coaters...rear is having it's boot put back on, I have ordered a matching front tyre too... Stunning work from Luke as usual and very well priced. Put the refurbed disc on too. Then cleaned and rebuilt the sprocket mount with some nylocks from Dusty (ta matey). New tyre should be here tomorrow so hopefully an actual rolling chassis very soon! Are you leaving the frame spray painted or are you getting that powdered too ?

For now it will be spray painted. A powder coat is too costly! When I've got the shocks sorted and where to put some footrests I'll paint it properly. You can still get a very good finish with the old rattle cans!

The front tyre duly appeared so that is off being fitted and I picked up the rear at the same time. Then an entire rear brake turned up, it looked pretty poor... But it turns out all it needed was a damn good clean. It's like new now. Even the pads are ok. So...put the lot on then... I seem to be missing a spacer. Might have something that will fit! Then Dusty's seat. I drilled out a hole fitted the light and had a test fit. I like that! Now it's being painted... Alex

Still not got the front wheel back...but it is moving along. The rear wheel is on with the correct spacers... Need to get a locating bracket for that brake hose! Then some goodies rocked up... The front wheel needs new bearings so I also invested in a puller. We'll see how that goes later... Then some footrests arrived... Just need a few little bits now, throttle tube, cable...kick start would be nice and the right hand switchgear (to mount a throttle on!) eBay beckons....dammit Alex

Picked up the front wheel today and then wondered how to get it to fit. Clearly I need spacers making up but after a look in my washers box I found this... It's made out of rubber but it is an exact fit. So all I need to do is take that to the engineers and get them to machine a couple. So now I have a (sorta) rolling chassis... And add some clothes... I have almost finished the seat unit, just some more lacquer and the black stripes to do! Alex

Haven't looked yet. I got 2 sat here for my tank but they are not complete. When the time comes I will search ebay or even try Kempton. I'm sure if I researched it the info is readily available. Just concentrating on the frame at the mo Dusty

Seat is done bar some foam. Might want a smidgen of comfort! And the new levers turned up. Looking more like a bike every day now, but bleedin' 'eck it's very long! and...'Santa Pod drag racing strip' is an anagram of 'Satan's dog will eat your child' Alex

Tank needs a little more work... Then I had a ponder about shock locations... About here could be right. Clearly I need mounts welding onto the swingarm. Perhaps a mount with 3 bolt holes to change the ride height? And shorter shocks to start with are needed. But I think it looks good like that. Maybe a tad lower... Alex

Not had a lot of time recently but I did sort out the gear lever. It was very bent, something the seller failed to mention...but a lot of heat and a big ol' hammer sorted it. Then a good clean up... Got me wondering if the foot pegs would go onto an LC footrest so I got some large washers to give it a go Then got one hell of a surprise...look what it says... So yes, YZF footpegs will fit an LC footrest. Just need some extension bar for the gear change. Alex

Still, I'm not doing this for the money! Peter popped round yesterday and quite a bit got done. Gaskets getting annealed... Knackered bearings out... New ones in... Some bits...he did leave some acid so the shocks will get a soak and see if that rust shifts! And after some gearbox tweaks the engine is being rebuilt! Alex
