Hi everyone , just saying hello as a new member , just purchased a mk2 125lc yesterday for restoration . My story , I'm 50 in 4 weeks in the 80's I owned 2 chappy red 125's the second was running a 180 barrel , I then got a 350 ypvs from a cousin , my two stroke story ended in the early 90's when I got into bigger bikes & thus all was forgot . Back of my mind I always wanted to revisit those times so thought I would start with the 125 . So picked up a bike that has been sat in a garage since 2009 , it has no rust but prior to it been stood up it was taken apart due to a blown engine / the guy painted the frame ( horrible blue ) then put another engine in & must of got bored with it . So it was left ... along I come looking for something totally different ( car related & spot this Mk2 wheel on a shelf ( I knew instantly what it was , anyway after a discussion & spending a hour digging bits out I realize there is indeed a 125 mk 2 I'd say with 85% of the bike there including a second engine . I made a offer to take it from his hands & he excepted .. it's gonna be a lot of hard work but I've done many projects & my plan is to get it back to concourse as close as I can . First job will be stripping it down & sorting what's what , I'm prob going to start with the engine , getting the cases vapour blasted & starting the engine rebuild from the ground up . I'm sure I will have a ton of questions to ask as I progress , but for now thanks for reading kind regards mic

Hi Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a great project. Lots of help on the forum, and Norbo runs a shop linked to the forum where you can buy new parts. Get to 10 posts and you can access the classifieds too Enjoy Dusty

Welcome to the forum and don't be shy with any questions.
There is loads of experience and knowledge on here and a friendly willingness to help where possible.
As Dusty said, have a look in Norbo's shop for loads of new parts and watch your bank balance take a hit from all the goodies he has in stock but, most importantly, enjoy the restoration
John

I know front wheel on wrong way round that’s how it stood , good points all the plastics have no tabs missing & the tank is rust free & no dents , so after a first look after getting it home from what I can see def has wrong carb on ( not even off a LC ) Parts missing Carb , airbox inlet rubber & air chamber , left footrest hanger , gear change arm , rear grab rail , took the clocks & headlight off last night wiring is bad so once I get it stripped I will look to see what the loom is like but it looks to be butchered with connectors missing here and there .clocks are very dusty but intact with no cracks . Odo reads 5660, prob spent most of its life with the Speedo drive unplugged , V5 states first registered 10,1986 , more to follow

Yea I know was just saying as you can see caliper & disk is on left / thanks for saying that , about good starting point , I will get some time on it soon to begin . My first spend will be a centre stand ( anyone got one ?) then I will get the frame painted & leave it as that whilst I strip & rebuild the engine to as new as I can get ( also need a carb , slide & air chamber + inlet if anyone can help , good condition but I will be getting the carb vapour blasted so if it’s just a bit grime that doesn’t matter . First important question What is the correct RAL code for the frame ? Second question As it’s a 1986 1GM bike that gives me 2 options Black or white I’m thinking white , what’s your thoughts Thanks again mic

As Dusty says get 10 posts on the forum and you have access to the classified section and stick up a wanted list. I am sure there are guys and gals on the forum will be able to help you out. Make some comments on other threads and you will get to ten no problem. As for RAL colour codes I am not sure but I will bet someone on here will. If it was up to me I'd go white Cheers John
