Ahh ok, cool. Ta for the insight. Perhaps it was India I was thinking about. I guess there isnt any option to ride something to a cheaper country and physically export from there. 2k is just silly Road trip!!! I'm in! Although, in the eyes of the authorities....it could be classed as smuggling. Tad dusty across Saudi....... Then need to avoid Syria to get to a Med port and ferry. Gaza and West Bank might not be a great idea. Egypt...... Sod it, still in!! :-)

I have been very lucky to own most of the bikes i lusted over when younger. It helps when you buy before they "get trendy" but we all know this. Just touching on what Reggie mentioned, i own a RC30 and have done since 2002 and its simply amazing. i use it wet / dry / trackdays / sunday thrashes / commute / pop to the shops and it can do it all. Now logically the RC45 was the nest to purchase and after riding a couple i walked away from both. They are great bikes and such a gem and very capable. but they left me a little cold and i was simply comparing to the RC30 which was slower and not as good a package. However the RC30 is one of those rare bikes that on paper are nothing special but its magical mix that works so well when together and is far more than the sum of its parts - and feels so special to ride even today. I also have a UK NC30 and a NC35 so you would think owning a RC45 to complete the set was logical - but no, i don't feel the urge to get one now.
However no one as mentioned about the R7 (OW02) well i can tell you this is very much one of those bikes where "don't meet your hero's" is very true. I lusted after one for years and after a few disappointments and bikes being described as genuine and mint (they were far from it) i did find a lovely example and i still own it. However if you think one of these makes the ultimate road bike ? you couldn't be any further from the truth. Physically they are huge - similar to the 98 R1 in stature however they are very light even for the size. It is the road manner that make this bike such a pain in the tits to live with on the road. The riding position is in another realm of uncomfortable. Makes my 916 feel like a tourer, but its the fuel injection system that's the issue. Either standard or semi de-restricted there is a certain starting procedure and once its up to temp and the normal map kicks in then you can pull away but even then its all revs and clutch slip thanks to zero flywheel weight and crank mass making it a recipe for disaster and likely to either stall it or pull away like a revvy t**t. the throttle may as well be a switch below 3k - this really is a race bike with lights unlike the RC30 I can see me keeping it for long enough to get my money back on everything i have done to it and after that it will be the first to be sold on.
I have recently got another dream bike which was the old Evoblade - remember them ? well i got #21 with 800 miles on the clock. Really enjoying using it at the moment too.
As for the future, i would love another AR80, perhaps a RSV Nera, perhaps even ZXR7RR or a DT125LC or IT465 One thing though, if i had to sell all my bikes and keep just 1 for life - no brainer for me. It would be the UK NC30 every time. no other bike can do it all and give the same level of fun for so little money so in terms of smiles per Β£ a well oiled and sorted NC30 takes some beating.

Have to agree with your points,RC30 is the only modern classic that lives up to its reputation in my experience. My OW01 is harsh, incredibly uncomfortable for someone of my age and slower than a 10 year old supersport 600. Thanks for destroying my dream of an R7 though, just to get you back I was involved with the building of the Evoblades and I wouldnt touch one with a poopy stick.

I bought an 851 a few years ago, when i was 20 i had the money to buy one new visited my local dealer windy corner, and was so disgusted with the way roger winterburn treated me i bought a zxr750 instead. I always lusted after an 851 bought it, loved it and sold it 2years ago as I could no longer ride it for more than about 30 minutes at a time. It wasn't fast it didn't handle particularly well but it just made me smile every time i rode it.

Thanks for destroying my dream of an R7 though, just to get you back I was involved with the building of the Evoblades and I wouldnt touch one with a poopy stick. Sorry about that with the R7, its simply not that its a bad bike - far from it, however it is just so committed for someone average like myself and its not really a just kit up start and ride off bike, the warm up takes 5 mins or it simply stalls and refuses to run cleanly before 60 degrees is showing and even then - well lets just say its easier to pull away on my 2003 CR250 with supermoto wheels, tall gearing and you get the idea its very all or nothing. I did a trackday on it earlier in the year at Anglesey and it was superb, lets be honest you just never ever see the R7 outside of museums or private collections, and to be able to spank mine properly at Anglesey was a privilege for sure. i am very lucky. As for the Evo - tell me more (PM if more applicable but there are many questions i have about the Evo. its now all sorted and i am really enjoying it (apart from working on it)

I think you need a 2nd opinion on the R7... Looks like the JW weekend was worth it :-)
If I could have any classic then it would be a MK6 RGB500 Suzuki. I think you need one of those in the CRM collection :-) For sheer mental mechanical wizzardry I'd have a RC149, an RS67 V4 and RA31A V4

Sam Fox on a Harris Magnum, wow that takes me back. Shame she bats for the other side not that us mere mortals would have remotely stood a chance but you could always fantasize. Favourite though was probably Linda Lusardi.
