Looks superb Yogi, but given the choice i would prefer the hybrid you are building, but both are outstanding.

I like those sort of jobs, switch gear and carbs are my favourites, find them very rewarding. Worst job is probably the wheels, but satisfying once done.
Keep up the good work and the pics flowing.

Hi rebuild looking good,I am doing a lc2 myself thy other white colour scheme, how easy are the switch gear to strip? Simple, if you’re not sure take some pictures of them as you strip them, there’s only a few screws holding parts inside.

Costs of engine builds seems to increase every year I did 2 Lc engine builds, roughly a year apart, and the second definitely cost more than the first, for virtually the same job. I listed the prices of the parts bought on the second build so I could look back in a year or 2 and compare how much they have gone up by. Worst ever was Yamaha putting the price of a base gasket for a Pv up overnight from a fiver to £30 odd !! Couldn't believe it. I bought from Granby's at the time and they couldn't believe it either. Still, it's important to do it right, and that means the best possible parts, and that makes it spendy ! Enjoy the rebuild Matt Dusty

Matt this is looking brilliant, I know you prefer your tarts handbag 😁, but got to say this is gorgeous. Re rebore to plus .75 did you tell them and they ignored you? Or did they attempt to justify by quoting barrel damage? Interested as to why they have done it 3 times.

One standard with a little bit of visible wear, one 0.25 and looked good To be honest if they were matching I'd have ran them Came back on 0.75. They said the bore was oval so needed to go so big to clear it out Steve

That's unusual
I sent 4 barrels (2nd set on 1.00 and 1.25. Bored to 1.75 so I just sold them to get my money back)
One pair marked A L+R, other B L+R

Being just down the road (maybe 20 minutes) I was able to see worn parts as he did them. I remember one set of barrels I took for a rebore, he honed first and showed me where the marks were. It was noticeably oval at the inlet side where there is less support for the piston. Ended up going up 2 sizes to get the perfect bore. He too never used to name the pistons. BUT he did measure them first to check they were bang on size. I suspect if they weren’t he’d have numbered them. I weighed them too and they were spot on equal. Jon

P J Engineering will go up on sizes too but as you say the inlet side wears oval and needs boring out a lot more to sort it
I had barrels at 1.00mm over taken to 1.75 which was a shock
It had a tune too where the inlet windows are really opened up , so even less metal for support
Something to think about keeping them standard or just a clean up ?

Got a bit of time on this today so started building the top end All new valves, bushes, seals, valve caps, screws and everything else including new head bolts🥴 Then the realisation that I had used the new basket on the N1 build and couldn’t find the water union So I put the engine in to free up some bench space Matt 🧸👍
