Hi , I am in need of some new brake hoses for my 350lc 4l0, I’m wanting standard looks. Where have people got there hoses from? I’m thinking I may have to get some braided with black rubber over them at this rate

Hi peacey, I ordered Venhill hoses, and chose the ones with the black pvc over the top of the braiding, Im really impressed with the quality of the hoses. Ordered directly from their site, and the site lets you build your own its really user friendly.. Dean

Don't Yambits sell original style hoses?

Don't Yambits sell original style hoses? If they do, has anyone actually tried them? I'm only going by what others have said on here but their stuff seems to be a bit naff/of poor quality. Not sure that I'd risk fitting brake related parts from them.

If you find anyone who makes them can you let us know? I'm after standard for my FJ1200 but can't find any. Will be asking around Stafford next month as well.

It's funny, back in the day everyone I knew couldn't wait to replace the original lines with Goodridge or similar. I see that they still list them for the LC, I never tried any other colour but their stainless steel option, I wonder if their black version would pass as standard lines from a distance? Maybe an option to consider??

Its thought (no one has proven otherwise) that all the OEM 'copy' hoses like many aftermarket parts are made in the same place. If you know better let me know. The yambits ones are made in the UK and have the correct approval info on em. Not their usual imported poor rubber.
Not everything yambits sells is junk, they also sell OEM parts and the same stuff plenty of other sellers do too, like piston kits and LC fuel tanks etc etc. They do still sell the shockingly bad crank seals and that is unforgivable, but if you shop savvy much of their product is the same as other peoples.

I've not bought anything from them yet,....maybe a thread dedicated to them and which parts to avoid would be a good idea??

I just got a set of them from legends as I too wanted an original look. They look "just right " on my bike IMO.

Has to be said tho, if you sold a part for a braking system like a hose that wasnt up to scratch and someone got killed because of it, well... doesnt bear thinking about for a business, senior managers could be liable for prosecution and go to jail etc
I suspect all/any of these hoses are made by a supplier or hoses to the trade, even people like pirtek can make up a hose with the correct ends and the markings. Tho i bet if you stopped into pirtek and asked for a hose to be made up youd need to sit down when they gave you the bill. I was shocked at the prices 20yrs back lol

I know a few blokes who use his lines and they all come with the right marks on them. A few years back he gave me a quote for 3 lines on my fj and it was $50 a line.

Ok my interest was peaked so Ive checked. The yambits hoses are made in the UK by Nelson Sokes who have been making hoses for a very long time and supplies the classic car world. They dont sell bike hoses so these must be a special order for Yambits (and maybe other people?). www.nelsonstokes.com/These hoses say who made them (NELSON) and the year and month of manufacture (eg 04-16). Yambits say: "This 515mm long Front brake hose is manufactured in the UK by the leading brake hose manufacturer and complies with all current regulations. "

More effort expended on this question as I need a set for a build. So, looking closely at the pic above, it looks like Norbos were from Nelson Stokes as well.
The bad news is that Yambits has upped their prices and they now sell at £25 a line, they used to be 20. That means that the Legends are a bit of a bargain compared as they are half that currently. I cant see anything about where the Legend ones are made or by whom, but I figured Id give them a go so ive bought a set.
Anyway, I hope this helps the OP with their question.

Fitted my Legend hoses today. Hmm... the Yambits UK made units were much nicer made. The Legends have some marks and lumps in the rubber that could be construed by an MOT tester that they were bulging or worn. Its just poor attention to detail in the factory but Im not very happy about it as it looks crappy. Im starting to think that it's Legend that sells us the junk these days, not Yambits...

Those outer marks, maybe down to the machinery being out of adjustment slightly?? Obviously something a miss there, then bulges would prevent me from using them, bet that come mot time, they would be spotted.

In the first pic to me looks like a scrape on something sharp. I'm assuming this is how they turned up. Those pics are blown up a lot. With enough magnification everything looks shit. These are mine.
