Hi just building my first hybrid. How do you all go about insuring them bike is still insured standard at moment with Adrian flux. Do you have to tell them every change. Will i need anything more than mot as proof its safe or will that be sufficient for them Thanks

Brief description and a few picture's to peter James insurance sorted out an agreed valuation on mine, never had to claim which will be the real test, but setting up adequate cover was a breeze.

Declare all mods mate.. Last thing you want is a void claim. Should it get nicked or involved in an accident.

Serious modification like a Hybrid needs a specialist underwriter to asses it. Adrian Flux (bikesure) can do this. I have my VJ22/RG500 hybrid on an special agreed value policy, separate from all the other "std" bikes. Without declaring it your insurance will probably be void (in the event of an accident/claim)

To be clear, all my hybrid mods are declared to peter James, they are happy to insure hybrids

I declared all of my mods with footman James absolutely no problems. Agreed value didn't have to send pictures, all done over the phone. Easy.

Yeah i will be declaring mods just more how far do you go. As in clocks brakes lights wheels an suspension do they have to know what they are changed to. Hope that makes sense

I don't think you need to specify exactly. Just tell them that you have upgraded forks, brakes, wheels and so on. When I told them I had a ypvs engine in mine they asked if it was producing more bhp than the original and how much more. Be prepared before you call them tho it's a pain trying to remember everything of the top of your head!

Footman James for me, added the riddler to my standard bikes, £5 per year more, sent them photos and all mods.

I'm with Flux on cars and bikes. My car is heavily modified and all of them are stated on the insurance policy. However as it is a classic car it's dirt cheap. So was my last LC, with mods declared.

I have 8 bikes on my policy including a few modified LCs, an LC/YPVS Hybrid, 3XV very modified track bike and a Fireblade with a few mods for just under £300 with Footman James. You can list everything, as they do not seem to charge extra for every little item.
