Hi, Anyone have any advise on ordering a set of Custom Brake lines for my hybrid...
I'm unsure weather to go for two lines out of the Master cylinder, one for each calliper or one down to a splitter.. pro's and con's for each set up? I would prefer to go with the splitter option as i would like the lines to be as hidden as possible and keep the bars as clean as possible.. Best place to locate the splitter?
whats the best way to measure the length needed, Use some 3-4mm steel cable
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark, my mate's onto his third valve hybrid, rgv yokes and forks, Tokico 6 potters, clip ons on top of yokes through forks, radial pump, SRAD 750 twin lines +75mm, without the extra it's really tight. Hope this helps. Andy.

Hi Mark I've twin lines down to the Tokicos. 2 lines are cheaper than 3, and I thought the splitter may make it harder to bleed - I had enough trouble with 2 lines !! I bought 2 new lines the other day for the orange bike. I've got a place near me and they copied the lines off the white bike when I took them to them. They are not on the bike at the mo as I had to rob it of it's master cylinder so I can measure them if you want. Dusty

You could always do one line to the first caliper then loop over to the other

Thanks Steve.. I was aware of that system but personally i don't like the look and want to keep the muddy free of pipes..
Cheers Dusty... that would be good, I did think the splitter could hide some stubborn Air but on the other side would it not have less internal space with 2 small lines and one long than two long lines..
Looking at the new LC Club Mag the bike on the cover made me want to go for one line down to a splitter.. Although an absolutely stunning bike the brake lines spoil the look of the front end for me..

Lovely bike, tho....

Hi Mark Just measured my new lines. Centre of banjo to centre of banjo, they are 31 and 32 inches long. That's going from the master that is mounted on ultra low rise bars going down to Rgv Tokico calipers. And if it helps, this is my twin line set up at the bars; 20180123_123143 by David Miller, on Flickr I don't think it looks too obtrusive when you consider you have the throttle cable and switch wiring in that area. Also, on an Rgv bottom yoke the splitter bolts on the underside of it - I may still have 1 somewhere if you need a pic of it. Dusty

Yes Black would have been a better option in my opinion...

I've had a slack day so have been out measuring and offering up the lines. I think i have worked out all the routing, angles and lengths for a splitter system using the old lines i had that are two short.. To fit the splitter centrally under my spondon yokes i will have to drill and tap a 6mm thread into the head stock shaft to make this work.. I assume this won't be an issue?

Hi Mark Took some pics of the Rgv splitter for you; 20180123_154820 by David Miller, on Flickr 20180123_154811 by David Miller, on Flickr This bolts under the bottom yoke with 1 bolt and the knib on the splitter engaging in a hole under the yoke to secure it. The 2 lines running down to the calipers measure 16 inches each. Just a thought - are you using an Lc style horn bracket ? If so, could you not bolt a splitter to the back of that ? That would position it in roughly the same way as a pv. Might be easier for you. Dusty

Mark, When I added a second disc to my old BMW I ordered a one into 2 system, very simple , three lines all one piece. It has a single line from the MC turning down the fork leg behind the headlamp as normal . It has a built in T piece mounted sideways somewhere convenient between the yokes that sends one line straight down the right hand fork and the other line off at 90 degrees behind the headlamp. This makes a gentle 90 degree bend to meet the left side leg.. all one piece , nice and neat. I used some electrical wire to make a pattern for the lengths and a couple of discreet tie wraps to keep it in place. The company was Spiegler I think, you can specify exactly which fittings you want at the ends to get desired material/ colour and also the lead in angle of the fitting for the best run of your lines. Black are the most discreet I think , clear ones go brown in the sun very quickly , well here at least they do.. HTH Paul

Hi Mark, I just put 2 and 2 together and realised you have the same front and rear setup as the 550 triple. I used Venhill, black hoses, black fittings, with the RGV splitter. I think there are pictures of the front brake lines from page 33 or 34 on the RD550 triple thread.
HTH
Cheers, Mark
