He most likely cleaned out the carbs and gave it a start before this vid But i did have a bike that has was sat in the gararge for at least this time and i bumped it down the road with the old 13 year fuel in it and it ran i road it to the petrol station filed it up and road back .

Were you not concerned about the damage you could have done to the engine due to knackered crank seals, sticking rings etc?
I've seen posts from others, strongly advising that the engine should be stripped & checked before starting??

All depends on your attitude to it mate, Mike(kopite30) brings loads of old 2 strokes bikes back from Europe which have obviously been standing for years with seized brakes etc , the majority of them will start and run just fine after a minor fettle...whether you would trust them to get you any further than round the block depends or to the petrol station and back depends on if your a gambling man..or not...and how big your pile of spares is.
Norbo doesnt have to worry to much on that front!
Myself, of the 2 bikes ive knowingly bought that have been sat for some time in recent years, ive been lucky with one and unlucky with one..shame it was the RD500 I was unlucky with...

Dare I ask, how unlucky were you with the RD500 then? If you'd have stripped it before attempting to fire it up, would that have saved you a lot of time & money in the long run??
Looking forward to coppers reply! My first LC...in the new era, like, now I'm grown up....supposedly sat for a while but even though the guy who sold it on didn't do anything to it I was able to run it up and down the street before I loaded it in the truck-it was well rough...but it worked. Ended up stripping it all down to clean it...went thru the carbs but left the engine intact and apart from a wee flat spot at 6 grand it's been running great for some 3yrs now...my next LC I think everyone has seen...wasn't allegedly started since '86...based on advice on here and knowing that a 500 from the same collection was a rusty mess internally...I stripped the motor...and surprise, surprise it was glorious inside...I bet...after carb cleaning and new fuel it would've started second kick...nevertheless it's getting treated to a rebore, a new crank and new seals all round- it's going to be solid once I'm done. although I haven't even started the rebuild....I'm still collecting the bits...I have no regrets...it's been fun and the fact that I am wayyyyy out of my comfort zone undertaking such mechanics is not such a problem having access to the brains on this site....in particular Dusty's rebuild thread.

The crankcase seals had gone hard and the rings on 2 pots had gummed up solid.
When I first got it and from them, at first, very occasionally, the bike would run fine and make decent power, the intermittent nature of the problem meant I spent time cleaning the carbs and checking the electrical systems when in fact , it was the seals giving up as the bike warmed, sometimes they would seal and do the job, for a bit, then it got worse so I stopped using it early in 2017.
Dbgr- I love the motor - wouldn't do anything to hurt it....if you think I'm bad you should see the way this gentleman treats his- yes...it's hard to look away tinyurl.com/BansheeSplit
Copper- smart move on your behalf to stop using it....potentially a life saver....hope it's good now.
