Looking forward to following this build Mr Kipling!, good luck with it mate ๐๐ป. Pardon my ignorance but what is the benefit of the single bronze clutch plate youโre using?. Apologies in advance if itโs a daft question, but itโs the first time Iโve heard them mentioned.

Hello Mr K I hope you don't mind answering a few questions.
What kind of clutch basket is that?
How many plates does it take?
Ist it the same diameter as a Standard rd Basket?
Can we see the back of it?

Not a daft Q mate , its literally a bronze clutch plate normal TZ plates have a habit of breaking , u pop this one in first too help combat that ...

Looking forward to the build mate And I'm glad you got on well at Cox 's - they are good guys and always do excellent work. I've been using them since the late 80's when I had my 400. I always rinse mine when I get them home - Cox's do rinse with hot water but I like to give them another go when I get home, and I have got a little bit of blast media out in the past, so worth doing Dusty

So rounded up the crankshaft an Nova Equipped gearbox at set too , first up was too fit new Gen Yamaha crank seals I recently replaced the gearbox bearings with gen Yamaha items so these went back in , after sealing n torqueing up the cases I got something starting to resemble a motor.. Later I,ll pop the top end on an torque up the billet head.. New Seals going in
Crankshaft n gearbox playing nicely together..

I agree with the other lads about this thread, very interesting. I have some more questions๐ This is a TZ primary wheel for the clutch, has it been specially modified for the kick start? If you do not need a kick start would there be a large bush in the Kickstarter cogs position. This thread has made me reslise that trying to graft a Ducati clutch to my engine is just way too time consuming and i should just stop being a tight git and buy the necessary parts

( I,ll refit this when I,m out on it at trackdays ) ... Hth...

Is the pump flow adjustable? I have been doing cooling water tests and have been thinking about restricting the flow of a standard 4LO pump to see if i can get a better Delta T over the engine and see what happens to the temperature

With an auxillary controller , yes , it,ll allow me to run the engine on for a few minutes after I switch off it,ll also control the temp times on electric fan too...

Thought I,d finish this off this morning but hit a small Snag the inner bearing in the clutch mod doesn't fit my rd shaft , small minor detail just means buying a diff bearing..Next time u see this engine now will be tucked up in a chassis...

What is the purpose of the huuuuuge reed block spacers? Is it just to allow huuuuge carbs to fit?

I know that on 4 Strokes the distance between the carb main jet venturi and the inlet valve has an impact on performance particularly when tuning. I imaging that it is something similar with 2T and distance to ports for max fuelling/air mix. I am sure someone with greater knowledge will come up with a good explanation for the huuuuuge spacers on the reed blocks
