Anyone got any views on petseal ultra, when I got my tank done the painter was going to install a liner as the tank has had a couple of repairs but it was too cold in his unit so I have got it to do ,but I’m bricking it in case it doesn’t work and I ruin my fresh paintwork

You can do it with a painted tank but you would have to be so careful The painter hasn't really done you any favours as he ?
Maybe do the POR 15 treatment and get an agreement with the painter that if you do damage the paint, he will help you out to whatever arrangement you can agree to ?

I've used Petseal. That came off.
Also used POR15 which I have had success with.

Tank Cure worked fine also with the one's I've done in the past. Good stuff, but need to do exactly as it says in the instructions for any of them to work properly. Temperature particularly and curing time.

There’s no rust in my tank it leaked at the securing cups on the inside I got them brazed up ,when the tank got blasted for painting we discovered a few dents they got studs welded on and pulled out so I was going to line it but now it seems I’m f###ed,petseal is crap por15 will destroy my paint 😩

Por 15 won't f**k you paint
It will stick to it though
Give the tank a good wax then mask it all up just leaving the filler hole and the tap hole.
If you have deox c do that first then the 3 stages of por 15
Will take longer but doable

As Steve said just mask it up right then use por 15 just make sure it’s all bone dry before you start with the topcoat

if its not leaking leave it alone , worry about it in the future when your paints not so fresh ..

That’s the problem it wasn’t leaking before the panel beaters welded studs on and beat the shit out of it that’s why I wanted to install a liner just in case ,it too late when the paint bubbles

+1 for POR15, I wax polished the paint work then cling filmed the paintwork completely 2 or 3 times over leaving only the openings open, that was couple of years back, but follow the instructions to the letter, tank MUST be totally dry before adding the final coating. I blew up two of the wife's hair dryers making sure the tank was bone dry.

As mentioned before regarding tank lîners . Its vital that the tank is 110% dry before adding the por 15 or it will go tits up if any moisture is present . Follow the instructions to the letter and you will be fine . As i mentioned i did mine 3 yrs ago and its still as good as it was when it was done . I think from memory the stated cure time is 96 hrs however leave it as long as you can before adding fuel , i left mine a months as i wasnt using it at the time

I did the same
Did the first 2 stages
Dried it for ages with a heater and hairdryer before leaving it in cupboard with my boiler for a week
I then applied the liner and left for 1 month before putting petrol in it

Agree about the curing time but I too left mine for months You could still smell fumes off the sealer months after though which was off putting !

What did you use to blank the tap,n,cap and screw holes?

I used an old fuel tap , tried gaffa tape to seal the filler but didn't really do the job and was told get a large rubber bung they sell at wine/beer shops Draining the excess sealer out at the end is a pain too , you can't just let it "pool" on the bottom
Putting the final stage in too, it's best to take your time and put the tank in every position you can think of
It won't start going off until you take the filler cap/fuel tap seals off and drain the excess, so don't worry about that
