Mr Kipling, what is the advantage of the Hinson clutch?
Sure it looks better, but is it lighter or stronger to (resist warping?) than the cast item?

Was there any advantage using 8 plates instead of 7? less slip etc

I ran one in a banshee 421 quad the core is perforated allowing better oiling/cooling of the 8 plates , as it withstood loads of abuse popping one into this motor ... besides that as I got it here might of well use it otherwise it,ll end up being sold.. I totally understand if you’ve got it why not use it. However I was asking what the advantage was, and you’ve answered it - another plate. I personally think the clutch is a underated element of most engine rebuilds. It’s not so much as if it slips under load for me under load, but slips under down shifts. I like a 2 stroke with some engine breaking, but hate as much as a 4 stroke coming off the throttle. Jon

What is the extra plate like in reality? Chariot sells clutch baskets that supposedly can take an extra plate. Trying to find information about this is difficult. I read a short Internet comment about using the inner part from Hinson, but internet comments are not always reliable. So is it worth it?

I'm confused now, is this 'one last build' 'streetfighter' or both of the above I'd be calling it the 'Bankrupt build' with all those lovely parts. Sure is going to be nice.

Get confused myself at times had 3 builds on the go one ( the RD ) has been cancelled ::) Streetfighter RS YPVS (which took over from one last build) is still being modified in another thread , so bought another Aprilia RS shuffled some parts destined for the others bought some more goodies an stuffing all the goodness into this new chassis ... HTH (rofl)

Mr K can you explain why you have fitted the billet water pump gear wheel? whats wrong with the plastic one?

It's a straight cut gear to match the Nova 'basket gear', further up the thread I'm guessing?? Oops sorry not trying to jump on the thread with replies.

Nothing wrong with the plastic ones at all just matches all the rest of the drive gears.. i wondered if there was some specific advantage like a different gear ratio for more rpm on the water pump

Was gonna assemble me new primaries along with a new basket but gonna wait until these are available
Is this special for the Nova gears shaft? and is it also sold to be retrofitted to the standard Yamaha shaft?

Very interesting indeed...... I am building a similar beast, with less exotic parts.... I have a nice Tyga Carbon fairing and seat unit in the pipeline for mine.
