I liked the original bike, and didn't think there was any room for improvement. How wrong was I, Great work

Why go to a hydraulic clutch?

Looking really great atm. Your headlight brackets look very chunky, will they clear the tank ok? I had a problem with mine catching the front sides of the tank, just saying in case you haven’t measured up yet.

Thanks Mark, Still allot to do and think about..
Kev, no particular reason really, the original clutch seems fairly easy to operate so i wouldn't see any issue using the levers for long rides, I like symmetry and wanted the same look for both levers.
Tezrhc I have checked the clearance with the yokes but not the Brackets yet... but seems ok... I will double check it with my mock up tank... Thanks for the reminder tho!!...

Hi Mark Looks good mate. Is that the Metmachex/Billet world hydraulic clutch set up ? I built an Rd 400 with a hydraulic clutch - had to do a lot of it myself following help from a fella on the aircooled forum who had done it previously. I loved the look of 2 reservoirs; DSC00031 by David Miller, on Flickr Look forward to seeing it set up. Dusty

Yes it's a billet world slave cylinder, Dean was very helpful... seems to be a nice plug and play item and fitting was very straight forward. I'm trying to find a nice location for the reservoirs.

You caught Dean on a good day then !! Are you going with the straight bars ? I ask as I had straight bars on the orange hybrid, but although I love the look of them they make certain parts difficult to fit/route etc. May not be such an issue for you as you have different lever set ups, but with mine I had to go with low rise bars in the end to make everything look and work correctly. It's nice to have a simple bolt on option for the hydraulic clutch - I think that will look really trick Cable routing for the clutch was one of the issues I had with straight bars so I think you will avoid that with a hydraulic hose. I've mocked up the hose routing with my old lines and didn't see any issues, One minor thing is i am going to have to spec a line strengthener where the line goes through the headstock wiring support, Same as the normal cable has... other than that i 'think' i covered everything... Just struggling with the res location.. easy to fit but hard to make it look good... I would like it as low as possible and out of the way. I like your little res pots but Brembo masters have there outlet on the side with a 90 degree bend upwards not the top...

How about some clear tube with an ally bung? 20170822_141522 by David Miller, on Flickr If both your masters have the same exit for the pipe it could look quite trick. Dusty

Shaping up very nicely. Keep up the great work Oh, and the speedo cable is too tight on the bend. A gentle curve is needed or the cable will fail very quickly.
Cheers, Mark

Well a little update as i have been super busy with a property (again) the RD has had to take a back seat, Every time i walk into the garage she gets a little stroke but nothing else has really been done due to no spare funds or time at the moment... It's really frustrating sometimes!!!

This weekend I actually had some free time to spend on the Bike and went a little crazy, Fully stripped out the frame and started to polish up some bits, Wheel rim polishing finished off, fully stripped down the Upside down forks and then stripped the Anodising of the front forks with Oven cleaner then polished them up, Polished my T12 Rear sets to mirror finish and finished each Day black as the ace of spades.. Sorted out all the parts that need sending of for chrome.. IMG_1418 by mark.morgan07, on Flickr IMG_1417 by mark.morgan07, on Flickr Will try and upload some more photos later..

Fork stanchions went off to be re-chromed today but a 6-8 week turn around :-0 I wasn't able to get the lower carriers of the stanchions as i managed to snap off a an 8 Torx bit off in the grub screw but the company i was sending them off too said they could do it no problem...

Did the oven cleaner need scrubbing once on the forks Mark ? I need to get the anodising off a pair of VJ22 forks and have polished it off in the past but it takes forever !

Not really dusty... i was unsure if it would damage any bear aluminium so kept an eye on it, I used a little bit of wire wool just to agitate it i little and it started to turn pinky red after a couple of minutes.. The gold was getting weaker in colour so i knew it was working.. I guess i could have left it on for longer meaning i didn't have to do it twice but as i was unsure so i took it easy, better to be safe then sorry..
I just googled removing Anodising with oven cleaner for you and found this video...
you can ask the Mrs how i found out how well it removes Anodising when i was cleaning the Hob rings when she asked if i could clean the oven... That was an expensive mistake!!!!

Nice one. I've used it on model parts to remove that chrome effect before but never thought about anodised stuff. Great info there!
