Hi all.
1st post, sorry I couldn't find an Introduce yourself page.
This is my "good" FZR Genesis. The other one was bought for the price of a tank of fuel in my mates Transit to go and pick it up. But it was completely standard and is now in bits. This one is tucked away for winter in my garage and is going to have a mint condition standard exhaust fitted to it over winter.
The Victory Vegas 8 Ball below is the bike which is going to be sold to get my YPVS fix. Its been 28 years since I last had a Powervalve and I think its about time I had another.
I hope all these pics actually work.

You could always go and buy another one, they are ridiculously cheap at the moment, a grand will get you a nice original one.

Wanted to try modern stickier rubber , hence the 17 inch wheel. Its really hard to give a conclusive answer whether its better or not. The shock is better and the supercorsa is great once up to temperature. Its very stable on long sweepers but doesn't turn in as well on tighter stuff and roundabouts. Tt handled badly at the TT a couple of years ago but I think some of the roads just didn't suit it and of course once its in your head you back off a bit. Saying that on roads I know local to me its fine.

Thanks for that even handed opinion. I think I will give fitting an exup rear end a miss then. I took mine to the TT in '98 and it behaved impeccably, I had no problem on long sweeping bends as long as you set it up before entering the bend, heavy throttle use would push it slightly wide and by backing off, or even rubbing the rear brake if at full lean, would bring it back in line. So, I think i'll spend the £300+ which it would have cost to fit the exup rear end on it, on new bushes for the suspension and a good aftermarket rear shock. A bit more cash on a Maxton fork job and it will be fit as a butcher's dog. I've already got the Blue spots and matching master cylinder so it should stop a lot better, not that I remember it lacking in the brake department. Now my 'Busa, that was a bike that was too fast for its brakes, a crap clutch too!
Thanks Baz.

I'm on the lookout for a JMC or similar rear swingarm, just for the show of the thing really, they are a bit thin on the ground for the Genesis tho.

Just a word of caution Billy, a mate had a genesis back in the day with a JMC arm on and it changed the geometry enough to upset the handling. Shame as they do look great.

Well, that's another plan up the Swanee then!
Please don't tell me it screws something up if I fit Blue spots and an R6 master cylinder on the front.

Thank God for that Baz, I've already bought my brakes.
I don't know the difference between the R1 and the R6 master cylinders, but my master cylinder and calipers are of the same bike, so they should work.

I ordered a red , white and blue one when I first set eyes on it at the bike show back in 86, D890SFJ is sadly long gone now.
It was a complete game changer at the time , my mates had gs and z thous ,I could just ride round them at will.
