Would add in my experience that a 2k primer is needed with glue / powder kits as other paints seem to react where the repair is made Never had a problem but that may just be luck with whatever I've used or the painters choice At worst a bit of paint isolator helps Not that I wouldn't prefer 2 pack. Just not got the kit to use or know a painter these days that use Are pro painters not using 2k stuff nowadays ? I know it's waterbased , but thought it was still 2 pack ? What rattle can stuff do you use ? What is a good paint isolator to use ? Seem to remember some yellow colour stuff called barcoat back in the day , but haven't seen it for years . Cheers Billy

Hi Steve
TBH the tips aren't that expensive in the scheme of things if you can do more than one repair at a time, it is possible to dispense without the tips however you need to clean the discharge of the tubes properly and mix as you would with araldite
The nozzles help you get the liquid into the correct places easier than trying to pick up the liquid with a knife and applying

Cheers Billy For paint isolator I've used clostermans paint isolator in a rattle can Comes out very dry and a sandy colour. I've seen Barcoat advertised on eBay but not in a rattle can. I used it when I was touching up the stormy red on a top fairing. The whole thing reacted but a coat of the isolator solved it. For touch up I use rs paints rattle cans. I've had both the water based and the solvent based but preferred the solvent stuff. The water based went on well but if you had a run or imperfection you can't wet sand it. Even dry sanding tended to lift it. I doubt many pro painters are using 2 pack. I've had 2 tanks done by a very well known painter The first had paint under the fuel tap area and I had to take the tap back off after 24 hours with fuel in it and the paint under the tap had softened The second had been masked so under the tap was bare metal. Wasn't keen as after fitting the tap there was some bare metal visible so smeared it with silicone to protect. My local painter uses solvent based paints then bakes it to cure. If you look at a lot of bike repair company websites they say they use modern petrol resistant lacquer. Not 2 pack Steve

I thought 2 pack paint was petrol resistant ?
I've not done any painting for quite a few years so well out of touch with what's available nowadays .
A few different brands of isolator on eBay now , when I was looking years ago couldn't find any .

I thought that too Billy, I didnt realise you could buy a fuel resistant 1 pack lacquer to add to paint, this would be great for making a petrol tank clearcoat... can we buy this as the general public?
Interestingly, this very week the guy at the local paint supplies shop looked at my yellow front muddy from my yellow bodyset (bought from the uk) and said, "thats 2 pack and i can supply you a 1 pack colour matched to it, but it will never be that shiny without serious buffing". That bodywork is 2 pack I guess and seems very fuel resistant.

As Howard says and I said before, defo clean off the exits from the product tube before you use it, it can set up across the hole if you dont use it often. Simple and easy to do with a small nail or something. That simple but of advice will save you ruining the product packaging and your gun for sure as even a small amount of one part of the product sets up very firm in air, enough to break things! Tho as its not mixed yet it is easily holed with a small nail/pin/stick etc as its not got the other part with it at that point. Makes you realise how good this stuff is really if one part is that strong without the 2nd part added yet. If you work in a bodyshop and use a tube at a time then youd never see this issue, but for small diy jobs this stuff is key to lookin after the product i think.

Hi, Just to resurrect this one, what type of plastic and filler rods do I need for an F1 fairing panel and 4LO side panels? Cheers. It will say on the inside of the panel, PP, ABS, etc, all types of plastic bodywork have this its a trade standard.

Yes got it back then and was able to succesfully weld some cracks in a seat unit and side panel. Tbh, with Norbo's good replacements, I would just use them for those pieces anyway.
