Totally agree on the indicators , even though I removed the indicators completely on my first LC and cut the subframe down !
Just getting the paintwork done has felt like a milestone

Wow Nov 4th was my last post and I have done nothing since as I was working (spending) on the Triumph
Got a few hundred ponds from an abandoned Bonneville rear wheel project which I got a bit OTT with , but that can go very quickly on anything LC related !
Finding if I can't just bolt something on, I go and sulk for months LOL

No pressure then !
The standard of bikes on here are getting higher and higher and I hope mine will gel into something decent Sometimes they go off in a total different direction to what you first had in mind !
Well the main point is that you are happy with the direction it's going in, I've realized we all have totally different ideas about how a hybrid should look, when rapidgaz saw mine his suggestion was to replace the original indicators for small led ones and replace the clocks for a new digital number! I was frikin mortified! The indicators are ugly in comparison to modern ones however that's how they were back then and in mho having changed rather a lot from the original bike it was essential to keep those items original to have the original essence and flavor right... also it's good that we go in different directions, would be bloody boring if they were all the same.. got to agree about the standard of most builds on hear being very high, but that's Brill as it gives us all inspiration and example resulting in an overall pull up the quality ladder for most.. keep the good work up Matey :-) cheers Dono Don’t, certainly agree on the retention of LC clocks on an LC hybrid. Mine also has standard indicators to keep ‘that look’. However on my next on ‘may’ try smaller ones and see as it will be more radical and many more non standard parts. Jon

Already had some repairs done on my UK LC frame and now need to get the whole frame stripped to check if there is any other problem areas
What do i need to look out for ?
The side stand bracket had broke off , so was easy to spot ! but do I just poke it with a sharp screrwdriver ?
Internal corrosion of the frame tubes I guess can be a big problem

Like a donut when I did a few rev counters a few years ago after putting a new face decal on, I never got the needle back in the correct position So today I took apart one that hadn't been touched and lifted the needle over the stop to see where it rests Now I'm getting about 3.32mm for the gap from the needle to inside of the needle Don't know what others are getting but this time I'm not pressing the speedo ring closed again until I'm sure !

Change of plan on the engine now aswell
Going for a 392 Athena top end kit Kenny TSA says he makes adaptors to fit the standard design down pipes onto the Athena barrels so that is a big hurdle to get over :-)

No I bought just the frame off a local and the side panels were originally on my Red LC I bought from a bloke in Shrewsbury 10 years or so a go
Jonnie Bick (Jonnie Feather) has kindly donated an offset front sprocket, it's a 10mm offset but I needed a 5mm one but I think I can get around it using an LC spacer behind the front sprocket
LC spacer measures 14.18mm YPVS spacer 19.30mm
So sitting 5mm in on the LC spacer I hope that will work out and using a large washer that is usually used for the clutch basket, to go on after the sprocket, then tab washer then the nut itself

Now this is a question for folks with a banana arm in an LC
Does the bracket on the right side that holds the inner mudguard need to be removed so swingarm doesn't hit it ?
If so then does the mudguard need trimming as well ?
Emaiiled Nigel at NK about this even though my bracket is home made ! but he basically said
Depends on what shock you use. What ride height you set and how stiff the shock is and what travel you have allowed for. Generally you have to lose the bracket for the rear brake light switch only but depends how you set it up
So it doesn't need to come off , so have raised the ride height a bit more

I think it will hit on full bounce too The banana arm really swoops up in that area doesn't it ?
I took all the preload off the spring and tried to bounce the bike down and it didn't hit it but think it needs to go
Anymore for anymore !

Lomas end can
So want to re sleeve in carbon and reduce the length so it's like Norbo's shorty end cans
O.D. is 59mm I.D. 60.50mm O.D.
Found this place
www.pjengineering.co.uk/index.php
58.65mm is the one they seem to offer

Drilled out the Lomas end can today and the measurement of the cap ends is 59.50 to 59.70mm, the firm I contacted offer 58.5mm then next size is 63mm so it's not going to work The carbon sleeves would have to stretch another 1mm !
So could be plan B like above !
They are 145mm long but look snazzy !
Will have to shorten my existing tubes
The only thing is I will have no contrast as both the expansion pipe and silencer are stainless

Poll link above
Above pics are of the repaired UK frame I have and I put a Poll in the chat section on which frame to use , the repaired UK frame with log book or the German frame with Nova and half the German log book with no repairs
Top pic shows the repaired front engine mount tube and the added on tie bars as it was an early frame
Middle pic is the welded back on side stand mount and the bottom pic shows how the bike sits on the stand, which looks good to me and the bottom of the side foot, sits "flat" on the concrete
