Hi Wall will be fixed - the shelving and bench will use it as support and I will line and insulate it too. The option was either with or without, and I think with will suit my needs better. Plus the back half will be more of a "cave" rather than a shed hopefully, so I will need a solid partition to make the best of it I think. Plus you are right in thinking it will be easier to heat one half of the shed rather than all of it. Dusty

Haha, they are never/can never be big enough. It will seem a lot bigger than the old one though, especially with a lot of the crap gone ! I'll make the most of it though Dusty

Well, finally, "D Day" has arrived After 2 months of waiting, the shed arrived at 9.30 this morning, and the 2 fitters aren't hanging about !!; 20170620_100111 by David Miller, on Flickr First impressions are it looks very solid and very heavy. Due to restricted access the panels had to be made into smaller sections that then screw together, hence there is a lot more framing involved. Glad I did a proper base now !! I will update as it goes Dusty

No they are not. It's bloody hot out there too - the garden is south facing so no respite on a day like today. This is it an hour and a half after they arrived; 20170620_110345 by David Miller, on Flickr Dusty

I popped my head inside earlier - doesn't look long coz of the internal wall but the extra 2 foot width makes a huge difference to the feeling of space. Dusty

I'm thinking of renting it out - sheds with beds !! Probably the only thing youngsters around here could afford !! The fitters were finished at midday; 20170620_192404 by David Miller, on Flickr 20170620_192415 by David Miller, on Flickr 20170620_192455 by David Miller, on Flickr So after waiting so long for it, the hard work begins, with lining and insulating, running electrics, staining, a bench and racking to build, plus a step and guttering. It will be a bit longer yet before it's up and running. Pleased with it though Dusty

If the screws holding those door hinges in place are on the outside face when the doors are closed they will need replacing with something far more secure!

Looks great Dusty. If you dont want to repin the hinges with coach bolts, you can fit pins in the frame at the hinges, Ive done that on many shed/garage doors. Theyre called 'hinge bolts' i think and come in many different designs if you google, but i quite like these ones. I'd fit 3 on each of your doors, at the hinges or close to.

Dusty ,your shed/man cave looks very good. as you said you can never have one the size you think you need ,there is always some thing to fill/clutter it up.

Hi fellas Thanks for the input. There are things I want to change. The joining strips between all the sections are lengths of ship lap which don't look right so I am going to sort that, plus there is no proper handle/lock, so will look at that too. Gonna be some time before the bike goes in there so not in a rush. I will update as I go Dusty

Dusty, for security see about fitting a lock that holds the door to the frame, not just to the other door or at the very least make one door hold to the frame top and bottom so its solid for the other one to bolt to. I favour physical security over cameras etc as a determined thief will get in no matter what of course, but you stop the idiots quickly etc. I also do my best to hide the security and not make it look like fort knox as no one sticks multiple huge locks on a shed if thyeve nothing of value etc. Excited to see the next stages of this, its a great shed for sure

Hi Thanks for the input and advice fellas I'm pleased with the shed - it's heavy duty for sure and well made. There are some bits that I am changing. As I mentioned, the strips of wood that cover the joins between the sections was just strips of shiplap, nailed on, which just didn't look right to me, so I took it off, gave the shed 2 coats of spirit based wood preserver, and then replaced the covering strips with a more substantial "square" timber, screwed on. I ordered some chipboard for lining today, and I'm laying board down on the floor for insulation and extra strength too. The floor is 1 inch thick floor boards but they are not tongue and grooved so could be draughty. I'm going to get a proper door handle and inner bolts. I kept some of the bits from my last shed so will recycle those. I used the same dark stain as on my last shed as it does bleach slightly in the sun. It's starting to blend in a bit !! More soon Dusty

Hi Steve, It's funny, neither of the dogs are keen on the shed - too much shouting and spanner throwing when the rebuilds don't go right !! Some sheet material was delivered today, so this afternoon I laid the 12mm OSB board floor in the front half ; 20170623_191205 by David Miller, on Flickr I was expecting the floor to be "out of square", and it didn't disappoint, so laid 2 boards complete, and then cut a third board into 3 strips to finish the job. All screwed down, and now looks nice and uniform. Had to trim the bottom of the internal door to clear the raised floor level. Will do the same for the back room, but I think I will line and insulate the front half first and try and complete that as much as possible. I'm going to build racking using CLS timber and once done I can empty the back room of all the stuff I've thrown in there and get it stored in the front half. Cutting the lining boards around the windows will be interesting !! Dusty
