This is me, my mate's girlfriend and my Rd400 at the top of Box hill one Sunday in the Summer of 86. An hour after this pic was taken by my mate, the 400 seized in the fast lane of the M25 !! I was doing 95 when it let go, had my girlfriend on the back, and still don't know how I managed to get it across the busy lanes to the hard shoulder ; It was only just getting interesting though. Another mate on an Lc found some webbing strap on the hard shoulder and he ended up towing my 400, with 2 of us on it, 3 miles to Jct11 to get off the motorway. The webbing was round one fork leg - going to his grab rail !! I had to fight to keep the bike straight as he towed me at about 40-50 mph !! He couldn't hear me sounding my horn above the noise of his pipes and the busy motorway, trying to get him to slow down !! It was one of the most dangerous things I have ever done - ever. This is him at Jct with our bikes, waiting for a van to come and collect my bike; And this is the remains of the top end; Happy days Dusty

Haha, his girlfriend was Adele - nice girl but a handful !! Funny, she joined the Met Police a few years after that pic, and ended up on a Police Tv programme called "Send in the dogs". She was a drugs and cash dog handler and often appeared with her Springer Spaniels. Wpc Adele Gibson nowadays !! And as for George Michael, I never looked as good as him ! Well, up until now of course Dusty

Hi, Those pics I posted are making me feel old..... or older ! Thats the last thing I need at the moment, as I turned 50 last week and Im not taking it too well ! That first pic is me going camping with my 16 year old girl friend on the back, I was 18 or 19 at the time ! As you can see, I have the appropriate Adidas trainers and white socks on, complimented with the skin tight jeans that were the norm of the day. In the last pic I posted, a couple of my mates and I went touring the highlands of Scotland on our 2 strokes. As you can see, I have my "touring" gear on, which consisted of my old fishing jacket over the top of my leather jacket, and some yellow oil skin trousers. The yellow oil skins were "liberated" from the tow waggon at work where I was an apprentice. I recently found a picture online of the tow waggon that I "purloined" the yellow oil skins from, it was an AEC Matador, which was used during the war and after in various applications. After the war, and right up untill about the 90,s bus companies used converted AEC Matadors as breakdown waggons. I know this is not the place to be posting pics of old gun tractors, but I think it looks quite smart. steven. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEC_Matador

HEU 216X....RD25OLC...Mars Bars (the best colour)just a few days old but, already sporting chrome rad guard (how flash!) Also, me wearing period Yamaha polyester jacket, No CE approved bits in those days...Gulp if you came off it would have just 'melted' into the skin...but hay it looked good! moustache and white socks long since gone...if you were wondering?HEU, taken the very sad day before I sold it...now sporting gold wheels, gold swinging arm, chrome Allspeeds, chrome grab handle and side stand, plus K&N's...Oh and drop handlebars...for that 'race look'....very very sad day indeed !FJT 237V...my DT175MX in the days before the LC, (yes, there was a time before LC'S) learning how to wheelie...skills which later cross-over to the LC........Luckily I do still own a DT as well as my RD350LC ! two-strokes forever !!

rd 125 lc mk3 1987 E reg with manual working ypvs 90s i manged to find a 350 ypvs breaking and took all the bit i wanted to make the power valve work. i was amazed when i heard the sound of turning the key. took it for a test ride and when it got to 6500 rpm?! nothing! so i took the servo off and fitted a bmx brake lever next to the clutch elver and use a spring for the return. then i could use the power valve at any time. just hold the lever and do the timing my self. i was so pleased
