So over the Christmas break, when i got really bored and fancied sticking my hands in a bucket of cold water at sub zero temperatures, i cleaned my 4LO Hybrid in between stripping the 31k Mouse I don't normally like the blingy hybrids but that is stunning

Best looking hybrid I have seen for a long time, well done Who done the blue graphics with the silver pinstripes, I have been thinking of a similar paint job for mine using black paint that was on bandit 1200s that has a blue fleck in it

KAS did the paint, and the frame, not the wheels though. They are in Kettering Northants Mouse

Done a bit more recently. Starting with the 31k airbox, I know most of it will not be seen but, while i have some time... Here are some before pics As you can see, covered in the usual scratches and marks after 30 odd years of use! And after some rubbing down with various grades of wet and dry and a repaint, it now looks like this Also had a go at the switchgear, here are the before pics And after rubbing down, painting new stickers and some lacquer Pleased with the results, but I may have used too much lacquer, they are a bit more 'glossy' than they should be! Hey ho, live and learn. Have left off the indicator switch as i am not sure if i will fit them or not. Mouse Just wondering what grit wet and dry and what paint you have used on the airbox, looks brand new. Well impressed

Hello Spudmab I used 800 wet 'n' dry, which got out a lot of the scratches. Then painted it with 'Sol X' black plastic paint which is a filler and primer for plastic. Then gave a light sand with 1200 wet 'n' dry and a coat of 'simoniz' tough black (satin)

Good job with the refurb of the airbox. If I may ask, what paint/code brand did you use?

Andrew, with regards the switch gear being too glossy, a coat of the same brand lacquer in satin over the top will dull it down.
It's the top surface of the paint that gives the specularity.

Jon Hi Jon Many thanks for that. So can you buy a satin lacquer? I did use the same brand (Simoniz) paint and lacquer, but was told by the guy in the shop, lacquer was lacquer, there was no satin lacquer!! The paint is a satin black and looked the perfect finish when painted, however as i had to fit decals they needed to be lacquered and so... I think i will leave them as they are for now, but if i ever do them again.. Mouse

There may not be a Simoniz clear satin lacquer? But they definately sell it in other brands.
Just be sure to test on something else painted in Simoniz for reactions first unless your 100% sure of compatibility with paint formulation.

Hi Andrew, Looking awesome mate. The engine looks gorgeous. Martin has done a fantastic job - you need to sort that pv end cap though !! Frame repairs look good too. You are using the right people so always going to get the right job done. So, paint or powder on the frame ?? Dusty
