Hi Andrew Wheels look fantastic. Microblast do heat them first to try and help with the trapped air issue, but it can still bubble up - I know mine did a bit, so you've done well to avoid any pin holes or rough areas. It's gonna look stunning when it's all built up Dusty

Coming along lovely.
As for the weave,I have found well balanced wheels make a noticeable difference to my 31k.
Mine has metshamex swing arm, nitron shock, and progressive fork springs, taper head bearings. ...and can scary weave still if the wheels are out of balance a bit.
Great bikes once sorted and you get used to them....have fun.

I want to use the bikini fairing, but with it off the weave/wobble is no where near as bad. hopefully with the new front and rear ends on it should cure it...I hope! Mouse

So , i sent my scabby RGV calipers off to Nick at RD Bitz, looking like this
And they came back like this!
Nick was recommended on this forum, he has done a fantastic job and a lovely guy to deal with, the calipers are in a gun metal grey as i did not want black and the pinch bolts are titanium.
I got a bit bored over Christmas so started to strip the 31K
Took about 5 or 6 hours, so a day well spent and finished off with some beers and more TV!! Frame has a few chewed threads and some cracks around the centre stand lugs, so that is now away for repair. In the meantime i have repainting some smaller items, mudguard brace, seat locks, horn brackets etc. Did a dry build with the RGV swingarm and all seems good, I can fit it properly once i get the frame back

Hi Andrew Looking good mate Those calipers look fantastic. I knew Nick would do a great job - he did my KR1 calipers and they were better than new when they came back, plus he is really enthusiastic about Rd's which is always a good thing. At this rate it will be ready for a springtime rideout Catch up soon mate Dusty

Hi Andrew His yokes are lovely. The 385 has NK Yokes top and bottom, whereas the carbon bike just has a top yoke. One is lightly polished, the other is anodised black - both look good to be honest. I'm sure you will be really happy with his work. Is the frame going to Microblast at some point ? Dusty

Dusty Hi Dusty Going to have the top yoke anodised black, Nigel is great and makes some really nice stuff, just ends up costing more every time i go up there, kid in a sweet shop!! Not sure about taking frame to microblast, I might do Cheers Andrew

So over the Christmas break, when i got really bored and fancied sticking my hands in a bucket of cold water at sub zero temperatures, i cleaned my 4LO Hybrid in between stripping the 31k
Job done!
So on with the 31k hybrid. Now the wheels are finished, powdercoated, new tyres, NOS RGV disc and EBC's on the front finished off with titanium bolts
Also been refurbishing the clutch perch and front master cylinder
They will get new bolts and I have a genuine Suzuki rebuild kit for the master cylinder. Really pleased with the paint results, Simoniz tough black, cheers for the recommendation Yogi, it's great stuff! Also resprayed the rear clock cover, before
and after
And now I have a set of clocks made out of the best bits from several. I can't take the credit for the top cover, that was done by 'midlifecrisisrd' and very fine it is to. The clocks are not perfect but way better than i started out with. Next job was a carb strip to send off for cleaning, altogether not too bad, however
But it did run!! Thats all for now

Fantastic work Andrew . I never tire of looking at your hybrid Lc - such a lovely example. I know the Lc2 will be every bit as good when it's done. Attention to detail is everything with these rebuilds. And of course, they get ridden hard, and perform every bit as good as they look - your outing at Brands is testament to that Is Martin doing a full rebuild on your engine ? Regards Dusty

Regards Dusty Cheers Dusty and Yogi Those are some compliments coming from you guys! Still can't build them as quick as you Yogi!! Yes Dusty, engine is with Martin, he is really keen. I've bought another top end which will be tuned, plus a few other goodies! I will keep the standard top end so that it can at any time be put back to a stock 31k. Cant wait to get cracking on the build! I'm nearly at the stage where i am waiting on other people to do their bits before I can do any more, fingers crossed!! Also have the 4LO Hybrid silencers back with their creator for re-packing and one of the carbon sleeves is a bit wobbly, so should get those soon! I'm nearly at the stage where i am waiting on other people to do their bits before I can do any more, fingers crossed!! Mouse

Loving the LC hybrid Mouse! ๐๐where did you get your seat covered? Hi Ojay I got the seat done locally (Chobham, surrey) by a car place. They are called 'DCLASS' Tel:01483 722923. www.dclass.co.ukIt is 'alcantara' used in some cars, it stops you sliding around. But it's not waterproof, but that is not a problem as the only time my bike sees the wet is when she is being cleaned! By the way I love the Kenny Roberts 31k in your 'signature' when you post. Do you still have that? Mouse

Thanks for reply mouse and the details. . I've been thinking that alcantara would be the right look and mine doesn't get wet except for cleaning either. Plus my cover recently split so have an excuse to get done now. Yes I still have the KR but looks a little different now. I've ditched the nose fairing and gone with flat bars and set of TSA's. Will get round to posting some pics when I can remember my photo bucket password :-)
