If so did you happen to see a Guy on a late 70’s early 80’s BMW R100RS/RT knock a Red Ducati Hypermotard over ?
The reason I ask (and apologise for the following ramble but please bear with me) is that Shane from Benfleet the Guy responsible, was kind enough to get the chap with the tannoy in the car park to find me and explain what happened rather than just think bollox, and disappear. Unfortunately it seems his kindness was just a front for those that saw him misplace his sidestand, topple sideways, which in turn knocked my bike over on to the right hand pot of a BM GS which cracked the front fairing on my bike.
When he came over he said how sorry he was and explained what happened and seemed like a “proper person”. I told him how I thought it was very decent of him to bother to find me as a lot of people these days sadly wouldn’t bother to which he replied “I’d like to think someone would do the same for me, gimme your number and I’ll sort it myself, no point worrying about insurance”. So I text him, he showed me his phone with my text on and I said I’d put a wanted ad on the Ducati forum to see if I could find a 2nd hand replacement to save him some money, “I’ll be in touch he said”, you can guess where this is going now can’t you
Now under normal circumstances I’m not in anyway an easily fooled naive chap, in fact in my 60yrs of life have found it best to assume anyone you don’t know personally as a lying b*****d until proven otherwise. Ok it’s a cynical view of life I know but it can often save issues or disappointment later but that Sunday I just wasn’t "Me". Unfortunately my Mum had passed away just the day before and as the sun was out a friend had convinced me to go along to the Ace for a coupe of hours rather than just sitting with my thoughts. Consequently I believe Shane and his “I’ll sort it” claim so broke all my own rules and didn’t bother taking any more detail from him, not even the reg number of his bike, what a dick !!!
So, did you see it happen, did you happen to take any photos of the non 2 stroke bikes in the 1st line of bikes parked near the bus stop or do you happen to know/have any details that may help me about BMW riding Shane Brooke/Brookes from Benfleet that I can pass onto my insurance company.
If you can help please PM me rather than post as I'm not looking to embarrass Shane in anyway just get my bike fixed at his insurance companies cost,
Many thx,
Chris
