I have collected most of the parts needed for my project, including a 421 kit, Chinese 3XV fairing, and a TZR 125 plastic tank, 3MA swingarm, YPVS SP fork and other small bits and pieces. Would be great to learn beforehand what hurdles to expect.
Anyone who can point me to a thread with a similar build? I have seen 350's go into 3XVs but this is of course different. Bengt

Hi I had a Tzr 1kt (2ma) with a powervalve engine fitted. I bought it already done so cant help with the finer details, but I have got pics with the fairing off. Pipes were Swarbricks, from a kit, and it ran an airbox, although you probably wont be using one of those !! It was pretty busy under the tank with all the wiring, but it worked. The front down tube had been modded to pick up the pv engine mounts. Other issue was the sidestand - a wide mid chamber on the pipes means the side stand can foul the pipe so the mounting bracket needs spacing out a bit; I started to mod it but then swapped it for a nice Lc2 so never finished the paintwork, but it was fun to ride and handled really well. Hope that helps. Dusty

Great, Thank you!
Especially pictures of how the engine was fitted is valuable. Maybe it is a straight swap but more likely there will be some fiddling with lining up the chain and getting the engine at the right angle. I have bought Kenny pipes made to fit Athena cylinders. The 421 kit comes with K&N and pre-jetted. Otherwise I prefer an airbox. Haven't decided yet. Cheers

This is the PO saying goodbye to the bike. It has been used for Classic Racing but I plan to put it back on the road. I will start by just putting on lights, meters, battery, chain guard etc etc and get a MOT.

Hi Looks a nice bike in good condition I may have some other pics in my files somewhere - I just uploaded the ones in my Photobucket account. I improved the riding position by swapping the left clip on over to the right and vice versa - turning the bars downside up and raising the riding position by approx. 3 inches which helped my back ! I would imagine if you have some skills the subframe work isn't too involved - certainly not as much as the pv engine that was in the Belgarda frame that I had. Dusty

I expect quite a bit of work. The TZR 125 tank is having the bottom higher up. This means that I can raise the subframe to get a better seat height despite having a thinner seat. That will involve some frame welding, but not as much I guess as with a 3MA/Belgarda frame.

I have rethought my plans and will put the 421 into the stock bike. It will be quicker and I will be able to test the 421 this summer. To make the engine swap quickly I intend to mock up the build first using the racer. This way I can re-weld the front hanger and make the torsion bars, pipe fittings and electrical plugging before swapping.

This will take a few weeks. I got the TSA pipes without hangers and stinger welded. Also the radiator need modification and I need to put in a new fitting for the water outlet in the head.

Sent you a link Dave , afaik the PV and LC cases are pretty much the same except for the clutch lifter arm , but post up the question just in case .

Kevtherev, LC and YPVS cases have a lot of similarities, but the barrel mounting is not one of them. Stud spacing is totally different.
In short, yes - you do need YPVS cases for the banshee kits.

Search for the thread "421" build where I assemble the engine. The kit was bought by "Wicked". Cheers

Some progress. Stingers and fittings welded to the pipes. Engine mount done except I plan to use torque bars directed rearwards when I switch to the registered bike. Radiator fitted. Next is to get connectors to the 421 so that it fits the TZR harness.

Nice build . I have the same sort of thoughts for my Tzr 350. I ended up modifying the front engine cradle . also I modified a pair of Tzr pipes to fit for the first year then had a pair of tsa pipes for it. cant remember the carbs I used I made a good set out of 2 pairs. they have foam filters on. also have a zeel ignition unit fitted. took it to the iom a couple of times TT. I have since made a proper seat pad for it because the 10mm of hdf was not enough padding lol.

Nice! I will use Keihin 34mm carbs as came with the 421 kit from Roger. I just have to add oil inlets to them.

Hi, at the moment I have a pair of 30mm oko carbs on my yamagamma . I am trying them out to see if they will be suitable for my Tzr update. I bought a couple of brass thread spigots from a radio controlled model boat shop. PMB Prestwich rc boats if its of any help. looking forward to seeing the finished build.

Time to put the Zeeltronic on the stock bike. I plan to use stock connectors and also add stock TZR connectors to the 421 so that I can make a quick shift when it is MOT time.

Had to order some more connectors from Borut. Anyone know the static advance for a TZR250 2MA? It will be interesting to see if there is any difference with the Zeel. I have found an advance curve to test. I can have several curves in the Zeel and there is actually the opportunity to shift between two maps with an external switch so swapping engines will be quick.
