Well, it's been a brilliant few weeks. First off finally got round to buying (cheers Norbo), getting painted and fitting a pro am belly pan for my Hybrid.
Then it was off to North Yorkshire to stay with an old school friend, he owns the Benelli TNT and the Hailwood rep. He and his wife have lived in Yorkshire for years, so he knows all the best roads.
What can i say, they call it 'God's own country', well he must have ridden a bike! The roads are incredible, very little traffic, great surfaces and very few cops, utterly brilliant, I envy anyone who live there. The hybrid acquitted herself very well and on the twistys could easily keep up with the Benelli and was just as quick as the Hailwood on the straights too. If you get a chance to go up there, go!! It is amazing, but don't tell everyone!
Next on to Brands and the 'Mad biker Designs' Bemsee GP circuit race meeting. As usual Martin and the rest of the 'Mad Biker Designs' team did a fantastic job of organising and keeping us supplied with tea, coffee, biscuits and taking photos all day, many thanks to you and your family Martin. Met up with Dusty, Louie (sorry if I have spelt this wrong!) his other half (sorry, didn't get your name!) and Gavin (I think!), a great bunch and nice to meet some forum members.
Anyway it was hot and I mean hot at Brands. When i arrived, Gavin was taping up the lights on his, very nice 31k. When I asked him why, he said he was going out on circuit in the lunchtime parade. I was told last year by the scrutineers at Bemsee that I had to have a 'sharks fin', catch tank and lock wired this and that to be allowed out. However as Gavin had none of these, I thought I would try the scrutineers again, so off I trot to the scrutineering bay and not only did the bike pass that and the noise test, but i passed too! So paid my money and signed on. Then panic set in! What have I just done, hope I'm not going to regret this!
Anyway after a briefing about the track etc, (never ridden the GP circuit) we toddle off to the holding area, only about 20 of us, did I mention how hot it was!! Sweat running done my face, after what seemed an age, we were off onto the circuit. Two laps behind a safety car to learn the track, could have done with a lot more! then we were left to just have fun. What a track! Some scary bits and could really have done with more time to learn it, but this was only the lunchtime parade and not a track day. Had a fantastic time and the hybrid was amazing on track, could just do with more top end, but hey ho.
I think we did six or seven laps and it was all over. I was knackered and soaked in sweat, did I mention it was very hot!! Back to the paddock and more coffee and Harribo. Watch some real racing and home.
A fantastic few days, just wanted to share/bore with you guys and a huge thank you to Mad biker Designs and Bemsee, a really helpful and friendly bunch, who let a bumbling oaff like me out on the track.
Cheers Mouse
