Eh? It'll be fine. Main thing is you don't put too much load on the engine or let it labour in the higher gears. Running in procedures are a lot less important these days as the manufacturing processes are so much better.

When I got my first new R1 they told me not to hold it over 9000RPM for prolonged periods for the first 600 miles! I'm sure a tickle up the motorway wont do yours too much harm, but I would vary the engine speed as much as possible using your gears. Just don't give it death til after the 600 mile service?

Yes, just vary the revs/speed a bit. Cruising at motorway speeds won't do any damage to an FZ8, it will be just ticking over. But as i said, vary the revs/speed a bit. Enjoy yr new bike, I've had several FZ1/FZS1 and FZ6 but never the 8.

Thanks for the reps guys . Got it back this afternoon and split the trip with motorway and road. Varied the revs on the motorway (autoroute in france) so all should be good . Must say ya dont need a fist full of brakes to stop this f--ker. I must add the yam dealer did say pretty much just dont wring its neck till after 1000k and it will be fine
Thanks again guys
Davey

Hi Stumpy, Yea, my FZ1 has the R1 motor. I bought the bike as I fancied an upright, comfy big bike. I really like it, and I only cruise around on it really, warp speed would be interesting without a fairing A fella parks an 8 outside my local Homebase - they look a nice bike. I'm surprised you don't see more Fz's on the road Dusty
