Looking good Steve...Home straight now surely..!! Gav Hopefully so Just a big jigsaw now. Just the little details take ages. Spent 30 min tonight trying to work out the clutch cable route. Thought I knew but have 2 nos one's which are identical but seem short when I fit them how I think they go. I'll leave it for now, just needed it fitted to the arm so I can fit the carbs as a pain if left to after Steve

Steve, breathtaking build. I can't tell the bike from new, except your finish looks better.
Great write up as well.
Cheers Mark

A set of clocks in that condition must have cost a few quid to put together! Great rebuild that will look stunning once finished

I feel the handlebar area is what you are staring at all the time so a mint resto has to be perfect in this area hence all the nos clocks and switchgear The instruments were a really lucky find but surprisingly the damper rings were available but not where you'd expect. Need to get it done and sold as already bought my next project lol Steve

Another few hours in the shed tonight Kickstart fitted with repair kit, Brake res and pipe fitted with new clips. Chain fitted and new chain guard NOS steering lock fitted with re plated flap. No real need as Iggy switch has a lock too but for some reason they had both NOS switchgear along with new grips, bar ends, lever and pivot. Correct NOS 1AR clutch cable. Refurbished master cylinder and correct NOS 57v throttle cable. Also fitted the clocks Steve

Ended up back at it tonight. Supposed to be getting the Lc2 running but after whipping the top end off it turns out the PV's and all bushes/seals are gubbed so shelved for now. I painted the rad yesterday so fitted it tonight and plumbed it all up. The Matt silicone hoses look good And yes its supposed to have the jubilee clips on the top hose couplings but yes they look crap. The mix and match is a strange one Even managed to find a NOS pipe for the expansion tank. Well not totally true, it's off a 125 lc but is the right shape, just a little too long so needs trimming. Went to fit the oil pump next but I cant find my tubing to go to the carbs. Then tried to fit the coil but one plug cap is knackered so called it a night. Steve

Built the clocks up the other night. NOS speedo, Tacho, top plate and damper rings. Steve .Hi Steve, the clock rebuild looks stunning. I thinking of DIY mine rd350lc clock too but needed some tutorial guide on how to do it, especially to adjust the odometer to zero and replace the dial face? Is there any link I can read for this rebuild.Regards Rahim.

Hi Rahim,
Cheated this time using new clocks but have in the past done diy
There are threads on here about doing it, probably in some of the rebuilds. Think dusty did one or jonw
Biggest issue is getting the needle off. The lc ones are very tight and brittle so break when they fly off so do it into a pillow case or a bag.
Simon wells does new faces (not decals). He is kateannwells on ebay.
As for resetting if you gently separate the dials with a thin knife to disengage the cogs you can reset each dial to 0.
I would also advise making a mark on the speedo mechanism to show where 0mph was as you need a reference of where it was before refitting the needle.
I test before with a drill and note the speed then again after to check it's the same.
Think replacement needles are available on eBay for xt/dt
Hope that helps Steve

Got the footplates and pegs fitted tonight. Exhaust mount bushes went in hitch free, biggest hassle was getting the screws out the rear rubbers. Front pegs, and plates were NOS, had rear pegs with good chrome so just fitted new screws, pins and springs Again had to source a good gear change as original was a rust fest so just had to fit a new rubber Steve

Hi Nice job, did you set yourself a budget for this. Budget lol The plan changed from what I intended. Original plan was to get it into a rideable bike. Certainly no show bike. I didn't used to be an "anorak" kind of restorer but after doing a couple of bikes for other people who wanted "as it left the factory" builds I found I enjoyed finding out what parts should be what and hunting for them When I started finding so much new or mint parts I decided the challenge would be to get it as new and original as possible. Budget has moved 3 times and now don't want to know total but certainly ain't gonna make money when I sell it. Strangely I read an article about a bike restoration company quoting £7k minimum for parts and labour to restore a 2 stroke twin Steve

Thanks for the comments guys
Yes Jason unbelievably I will part with it at some point, it was not planned as a keeper. Done for the challenge and satisfaction of it.
Don't get me wrong it won't be cheap but not making money as you can imagine what the parts bill has been like.
Don't think I could use it and ruin all that nos lol. Going to do my latest lc2 accusition as a standard but usable bike.
Yes I'll pm you the part numbers shortly when I get to my laptop.
Steve

Been grabbing the odd half hour here and there New inner and outer rims and fixings and finally a UK pattern Koito headlight and new genuine indicators Battery in with the correct leads, NOS band, new strap and the best cover I could find. Its took 3 evenings but finally got some brakes on it. Not very good ones but new pads/second hand discs should bed and improve. Tried everything. Vacuum pump, normal bleed method, reverse bleed. Rear ended up cracking the banjo at the rear master before got any joy out of it. F*cking hate bleeding brakes. All filled with fluids now. Makes a difference on the warm evenings working outside Ready now to fit these Then it will be remote tank and the moment of truth Steve

Fitted the pipes and rigged up the remote tank with some premix........... ...........It lives! Fitted the new rad cover, front muddy and tail/grab rail Would have got it finished if the parcel from Fowler's had turned up as it has the fuel tap screws in it. Funny how it sometimes comes next day and sometimes takes 3. Steve
