Just realized I don't have a complete pic of the bike so here's the ebay ad www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201227570697?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITBasically it was put away in a damp garage 15 years ago when the tank started leaking with the intention of fixing it at some point but after 13 years the owner died. Bought it from his mate selling it on behalf of the widow. Despite the fairing it is a matching numbers N1 with 3 previous owners. Some close up pics of the state of it Amazingly the engine turns over freely and when I stuck a battery in it all the electrics work. The pv's cycle freely and it even has a spark. Resisted trying to start it though. Every bolt has been swapped out for stainless hex which is a nightmare as planning to put it back as original as possible. So far only the mirrors and seat cover are the only planned non original parts that will be on it. Kicking myself as I got distracted by a p1ss up in Newcastle and missed a pair ending on Ebay. Typically I can get NOS N2 mirrors but not used N1. Fairing on it is actually a bike specific Powerbronze unit but don't know what they were thinking. Pipes are 1UA so have to go. List of parts already sourced are Rust free tank N1 dent free pipes Good chrome grab rail Good chrome footpegs New rubber brake lines N1 headlight and bracket Good chrome gear lever An absolute fortune on NOS/replated and mint second hand fasteners and clips for engine, frame and everything bolted to it Good 31k shock, belt and adjuster ( F2 shock fitted ) I ain't getting anything else from Santa this year Steve PS - anybody want a full fairing lol

Hi Steve
Looks like a challenge..... It always amazes me that people leave these bike festering in damp sheds and garages un loved , for years.... But I guess that's part of the challenge.... I have an N2 in a similar state that's waiting for me once I get my 31k finished.....I look forward to following this thread... Good luck and keep the pic's coming....

Cheers but got a set already. It was the ones with the cut out on the inside for the wheel spindle so got really lucky with them. Made sure I could source all the rare bits before I bid. May take longer than the winter lol Tight for space so going to strip it and work through everything first before final assembly rather than building as I go. Hopefully get it stripped over the holidays so the stuff for plating and the stuff for coating can go away and get done. Think the swing arm may be too far gone so may need another Need to get my Fazer sorted after that as it is lying with the exup out for replacing and the valve clearances need doing so really looking forward to that. Then its an Ivans jet kit and emissions blank kit so will be ready for the spring. Can always do the N1 when its raining ( will be done quickly then ) Steve

Been stripping it bit by bit over the last few days with only one bolt shearing off but came out with a bit of heat and the sump plug is rounded and stuck solid so will sort that when the motor is stripped. Bad news so far is swinger rotten, inner and rear muddy holed by the tyre rubbing some how, rear brake guide rotten and tail light bracket cracked. Good news is curiosity got the better of me so popped the head off to have a look No detonation on head and by the look of the carbon not many miles since it was last apart Not the best pic but unmarked bores, not even a mark where the rings have been sitting for 15 years. Oh and standard bore Build has now turned a bit anorak. All this new and nos lark is pricey And that's just the bagged stuff, got loads more in the garage along with all the used stuff I've picked up so far. Plan is to have everything finished as it left the factory Managed to get mint pegs ( other rear is somewhere along with a good grab rail ) Spoke to my powder coater and they have gave me details of someone to strip the frame as I think it is powder coat and amassing parts to get re plated. Dropped it off for powder coat stripping, picking it up first thingame in the morning.
Fast turnaround, dropped it off at 11 and they said it would be ready at 5.
They did offer to blast and powder it at the same time but there is a rust patch on one of the tubes I want a good poke at

Popped in to collect the frame at 9 this morning. Erm, bit of a problem, it's now been in the strip tank all night and it still ain't off. Must be some weird industrial coating. An hour later and a very frustrated guy with a jet washer and it is 99.9% removed. Pity about the rust patch That might need a little bit of welding Steve

or a whole pile of JB Weld Don't laugh but I had one that had a 10mm hole but was solid other wise and it was at the same bit but the other side. Only appeared after blast and coat so plugged with epoxy and painted over Steve

Frame repaired now and ready for powder coat Also sent a total of 186 parts, nuts, bolts and washer to be zinc'd, olive and yellow plated Found the LH bar bent. The bar is spot welded onto the cast end and the weld had split so got my local engineer to heat up and straighten it before re welding it. Got a NOS RH bar switch so just need a left. Does not have to be the 57V one as I can swap the case so the 29L will do. Steve
