hi alli got a yz465 ali swinger to mod to suit my 82 350LC. first job was to machine the thickness down to fit the frame (3/16" each side) check now see how it fits on the shock bo11ox! shock hits frame before aligning, going to either move or make new ali mounts for the shock and weld in place. will look good when butchered to fit. mark

Do you have enough clearance for suspension travel where the arrow is pointing? OEB

hi dusty i think it would help but not solve the issue. i will put the mudguard back on to line the shock up to were it needs to be and take some measurements (this was supposed to be a simple/cheap mod ,well we all know how that goes) cheers mark

Mikee told me about this modification.
Looks the biz. Thought Dusty's suggestion was the solution, I thuoght the same thing.
Just for reference. How wide is the swingarm at the inside of the adjuster slots???

hi tony, inside the adjuster slots it measures 8 3/4". longer shock not going to help. considering major surgery , cutting through the side supports and under the main central pillar and dropping the top down an inch or so and re-welding as to oldelsieboy question ,it clears the frame as is but would need cutting the mudguard . any sugestions are welcome, fortunatly i have access to lathes mills and a sh1t hot welder. thanks mark

Interesting Mod. Suggest an SV650 oem shock. It (IMO) should fit that Swingers shock mount.. both in existing bush width and shock length. Only Issue is that it's a Crap Chinese made shock.. V Cheap to buy used tho :-)

Sorry . I didn't explain myself properly.
How wide is the swinger at the back.
I would want a wider wheel in there

hi botty its about 8 inches were the tire fits . Thanks Mark that's wide enough there so that's good. What I meant was. How far apart are the wheel adjuster plates?. I need 225mm to get my wheel in. Sorry Tony

hi tony its about 8 3/4 " which is 222.25mm ,about 2.5mm shy but you could either stretch it or machine each arm i will post some pics with a tape measure to make it clearer mark

your not kidding i think the yz250 swinger is the one you want to start with, not sure but i think its shorter to start with . but its getting the shock mount to line up correctly with the space in the frame and the shock. but once i had started cutting i might as well "make it work" using a tim gunnism. cheers mark

hi, i had one of those in my lc which was pinched, the arm was removed and binned (one of my pals saw it in the local scrappies but didnt realise it was mine..) there was a frame mod to move the mount forwards a touch and a notch was made on the top brace to clear the chain. i cant remember if it was a standard shock, Mikee might as i got it off of him, but it was about 25 years ago now.. there were sleeves made up to allow the std lc rear spindle to fit also.

the 250 arm is about an inch shorter than the 465, as my memory serves, i have both sitting in my shed.. about 150 miles away though so nipping round to check isnt quite as easy as i would like it to be.. lol

all in and ready for state inspection. had to make an extended brake adjuster and an ali brake stay arm. and some spacers for the foot peg hangers as once i have run the new top end in on the stock setup i will be putting on the spec11 chambers and heading to the dyno to get it dialed in . cheers mark

Yess V nice job you've done too. Seeing your attempts earlier. I too (monkey see style etc :-) wanted one.. Until I discovered that rascal is 1 lb lighter than the stocker. Silver paint is easier for me.
