I've seen some at daft prices recently and these carbed R1s are only going up, I'm not desperate for the money but have found myself fancying something different of late. Maybe a speed triple or tuono.
It's a 2001 R1 in the best colour bought with 5600 miles on September 2012, now on 10500 slowly going up.
It's got the later 02-03 yokes which improves the geo, steel taper roller head bearings, ohlins steering damper with harris fitting kit, WP shock fully serviced last year, front forks also serviced at same time. -1 front gearing and renthal rear sprocket, 190 55 rear tyre (pilot power 3s all round, front done about 650 mile and barely worn, rear about 3mm min), speedo healer, mivv carbon can, bmc air filter and ivans airbox mod, 2010 Big Bang radial brembo m/c and braided lines all round, titanium caliper bolts, R&G bungs, stomp grips. So does have a few mods but nothing just for the sake of it. Previous owner fitted an aftermarket undertray also but can easily be put back to standard.
Has seat cowl and fabbri double bubble screen but comes with original pillion seat and screen, also got the original Matt blue titanium can in the loft in bubble wrap to go with. Serviced about 1000 mile ago before I went to the TT, always on full synth.
Service history up to 5400 miles. Loads if receipts for bits and bobs.
The nearest in terms of mileage and condition I found was £4k on mcn classifieds and that was boggo standard. So no doubt shot 13 yr old suspension and brake lines etc. the shock alone was 300 second hand then 100 to service, but I was advised by Kais it was well worth it as it was probably a £1000 unit new. Certainly handles well.
I've even seen them with double the miles for high £2k low £3ks, but that's just what people are asking... Anyone sold one of these lately??
The only downside I can find really on this bike is a slight crack in the tail piece but I'm planning on getting that fixed. Obviously the odd stone chip - it is Y reg after all. Otherwise mint.
