I don't have a template, I just got a bit of 10mm plate, held it against the rgv hanger and traced found it before getting an engineering shop to cut it.
When I get the final spacers made while it is off I will draw round it on a bit of card then I can post it down to you.

Steve, got the bandit 400 sprocket carrier in place - fits really well and corrects the chain line nicely! almost there now! apart from the fact that muppet features here chopped the spacer down that goes between the caliper carrier and the wheel bearing.. any chance you could get me some measurements off your spacer please (the original suzuki one)? only really need the width - i can guestimate the rest.. will be getting one made as i cant find any on ebay at all - unless someone has one kicking around? ? almost there.... cheers Jon

Steve, got the GS500 sprocket carrier in place - fits really well and corrects the chain line nicely! almost there now! apart from the fact that muppet features here chopped the spacer down that goes between the caliper carrier and the wheel bearing.. any chance you could get me some measurements off your spacer please? only really need the width - i can guestimate the rest.. will be getting one made. almost there.... cheers Jon Should it not be the bandit400 carrier? Not got a spacer out to check and bike is in vac bag. It is the same as the Rgv one, I bought a full alloy set for mine from eBay. You can buy them there or the tuning works site. The carrier bracket is 30mm so you may be able to get it from that. I also fitted a seal on the rh side of the wheel bearing Steve

Sorry but should have sain the gsxr rh spacer is the same width but with a flange.
I fitted the Rgv one hence the seal was fitted.

Yep - my mistake - Bandit carrier NOT GS!
think i'm going to have to buy a set of spacers or a genuine one from Suzuki as OEB says. Seen them on Ebay for £30 - may well be cheaper than genuine!
cant wait to have this sorted.. then i can put a chain on it for the first time in 6 years!
Cheers all!

So, to retain suzuki parts you have to have a right hand rear wheel spacer made that is 6mm wider than standard, and remove 6mm from the right hand side of the caliper mounting, with 3mm taken off the lug on the inside of the swingarm that stops the caliper holder rotating.
I'll post a pic once i have it made, and after i work out how to post a pic on here!
Merry christmas all!

Finished!
had a new RH inner spacer made 6mm longer than standard, the had 6mm machined off the outer edge of the caliper carrier to align the caliper over the disc. This presented the final proble with the locating lug for the caliper carrier - i nipped 3mm off this, the ground back the shoulder of the tab to allow the carrier to fit on and be perpendicular to the axle. Result!
Now, rear sprockets - steve- how are you getting on with your 41T rear? JonW - have you tried the 38T in anger yet?
I've just ordered a 41T Talon from Dennis trollope racing, but wonder if on a standard engine it would work well on fast roads? Obviously its going to be on 17" rims too! my feeble brain cant work out the counteracting effects of more teeth on the rear versus smaller diameter rim - effectively cancelling out each other - ish..

had a 41t with the Rev set up and it topped out about 115 at red line in top.
Kept the 41t set up with the gsxr as using a 70 profile tyre, not had it on the road since, only on the dynamic but should be 120 now.
It is great on the road other than on the motorway where 70 is around 6k
I do have a 39t to try. Very cheap option as the gs500 is 39t 520 as standard.

Jon, good to hear you got it sorted now. Steve, where did you get those chain pulls, I have been looking for some time. Was long time ago from the old Rd forum. Think someone made a batch. Think somethingelsie on here did the adjusters nuts. Nk racing and rgv250.com do other ones Steve

I've seen the NK racing ones, but would have preferred the ones you have.
On a slightly different note, how did you know where to position the caliper?
It easy on a duel opposed piston to work it out, but not on a floating one.
Did you know the distance between the metal carrier and the disk from a standard RGV?

I did measure an rgv wheel but double checked by making the hanger plate out of 10mm plate the fitting everything and measuring the spacer sizes the fitting them th the plate with roll pins. Plate was made by simply drawing round the original carrier Steve

What is the distance between the steel floating plate (not the alloy spacer) and the disk with new pads in.

It is only 1-2 mm from the disc bolt heads
Not a lot of space.

i guessed... measured the width of the aperture on the caliper divide by 2, then position the caliper.. measure.. looks right ;-)

The standard rgv and gsx spacers are the same width so either will do. I used one of the alloy rgv kits off eBay Steve
