Had one from the age of 3 right up to the end of the first season in the Brit. Stopped in order to fund the racing on the CR, then stopping racing when the missus got pregnant and begged me to. Crashed at least once at every meeting, so did 95% of the others, cut slicks and mud are not a good mix when you're on a bike that's trying to kill you every time you open the throttle. Still get down to the ground now and again but feel a bit of a hypocrite after missing all those years.

Me too, did a few away days with them in Tony Gray's "battle bus" Anton, Wilf, Darren, big Shaun etc. Bloody nutters, once got chased by three riot vans that wouldn't let us stop until we left Leicestershire into Staffs, round roundabouts three times, through car parks and all sorts, it was like a scene from keystone cops. Lol The paintwork on the bike is modelled on the early 90,s matchwinner paddock jacket, the lads at Mirage paintwork in Ilkeston had a fit when I turned up wanting that with the Stoke crests on the fairing, they did a good job as always though. They did a great Sarron Gauloises Blondes job on the 500 before, even wrote to them for permission as it was the first one ever done in the uk and they didn't want hammering for copyright breach. The French team were chuffed though and sent me paddock tickets for the Gp at Donington and made a right fuss of me. Happy days...
