Hi guys I have been asking a few questions on the forum for about a month now but I have finally picked up my new project. This is how it started. I bought it from a forum member who has too many projects on the go! I spent 8 hours driving yesterday to pick it up and spent today stripping it down. The reason for starting with the carbs is because when I went to start it up to show Mrs W just what a good bike it was it decided to piss petrol everywhere! PWK 28's any good? First main event will be to contact Kenny at TSA to sort exhausts and perhaps a little porting. I have started to order stuff and I know this is going to get silly as they always do!!!! Should the carb slides be black or gold? Any way guys I will try to keep updates coming but it's gonna be a slow process as I want to try to do as much as possible myself to try to keep the cost down. Expect loads of stupid questions as I have never owned a Cagiva Mito or a Yamaha RD. Now for a few beers and stare at it for a bit more!

I have some big plans for this but it's going to take time. I can't do too much to it at the moment as i'm going to get the exhausts made first. Once these are made and it's possibly had a little porting job done the engine can come out for a clean and some paint!

I think the rad will have to go the right way round on mine as it's a Mk2 Mito. I offered up the top fairing and it fouls the radiator. I believe it will fit and look better if I make up some brackets to lower the rad by 20mm and forward 10mm. I also have loads of room under the tank as i'm running premix. I have been doing a little to mine and taking pics but my photo program seems to have disappeared so I will look into installing a new program this afternoon. As I have said I can't go full steam and strip this bike because I need to find the time to get it up to TSA to get the pipes made that's going to be a 12 hour day! and I have a cunning plan which if all goes well I will be able to share with you all tomorrow but that will involve another 12 hour day of driving!

Love the project. One day I will get one.
Has the coolant leaked into the gearbox. The oil looks emulsified.
Looking forward to more posts.

I had to put a little body work on just to see and give me an idea of what it will look like. A bit fuzzy but don't you hate it when the engine has been filled with tap water?

Yea I know I was just really frustrated as this would have brought my project on no end and saved me a lot of time and money! I now have to find parts and strip and powder coat. Perhaps he thought he would get more interest. Yesterday wasn't a good day on ebay I set the computer up and said to Mrs W just press bid now for a billet oil pump cover, She forgot!!!

Radiator and rear sets mainly I have some Yoshi sets here i'm going to make fit and try the old rad to see if I can get it to fit! Adapt and survive!

The rads are the same on a mk1 and 2 and evo's The thermostat housing fowls the radiator ,at the back and the yokes hit at the front Turning it round it just fits You need to cut the ducts in the middle faring on the evo dunno about the mk1 farings , but I reckon it'd be the same
I think an sv650 k3 rad would fit easier tho I've not tried it , and a n rs125 one will fit I'm told
Most folk seem to weld a cap in the mito rad and turn the top mount round Mike

Just a little bit of paint stripping and painting today. Before After Fairing and headlight brackets Yoshi rear sets which I will make mounting brackets for Chipping away at it every day. Another quick question can you run without the engine tie bars?

Yes it will be fine. My Yamagamma didn't have tie bars, main reason for them was to stop the standard exhausts cracking but with spring mounted headers it won't be a problem.

Been a busy weekend, stripped out the swingarm and painted it. put the engine back in, what a pain in the arse job that was! Loads of little jobs done as well! Also mocked up the rear brake but I think I may need to be cutting a little bodywork for it to fit! Almost ready to get it up to TSA just waiting on a couple of bits from Norbo!
