Hi, The hybrid has now been promoted from the shed up to the garage ! I fitted the tail tidy/numberplate bracket plus the Yamasaki donated the F2 switchgear as I am using a standard loom as opposed to the custom loom that was on The Ugly Betty Tzr. Need to find some where for the ignition barrel as I don't want it on the top yoke. Still want to jack the rear end up a bit more too. Will need a new chain and rear Talon to get the gearing right. Could have used the Yamasaki chain but I didn't want to shorten it to fit this. Everything the Yamasaki has donated is ready to go on this, plus I ordered some alloy headlight brackets too, so it can move on a bit - when I get time !! Dusty

Hi, Lots done yesterday; Engine in, pipes on, rad plumbed in and various odds and sods fitted back on; Need a chain, fuel tap and may invest in a better shock. Need to find a place for the ignition to live - forgot how bulky it is. Also need a shorter clutch cable as my Lc2 cable Is too long with the straight bars. Still lots to do Dusty

Hi, Bit more done today. I bought a standard 106 link Ypvs chain, and it fits without issue. The chain runs straight and true, so no need for offset sprockets with this set up, plus it clears the edge of the 140 tyre; I bought some parts from Norbo - great service as always. A TZ hi flow tap now sits in place of the standard F2 item, plus I bought some new petrol pipe for the carbs, and some 260 main jets plus 2 foam pod filters. I will ultrasonically clean the carbs this weekend and then they can be fitted. I fitted the clutch cable with a screw adjuster at the engine end to make up for the flat bars. I also fitted the headlight brackets; These brackets fit forks up to 53mm, and as mine are 50mm, the brackets left an unsightly gap at the front and back, so I bought a sheet of 5mm rubber off ebay and cut some strips to sit inside the bracket halves, to both cushion the brackets against the forks and take up the gaps. 2 new mini alloy indicators to match the two I already had were fitted with the Lc style headlight; A stainless engine cover was also fitted; Seriously thinking about getting a Nitron shock to sort out the suspension at the back. That's when the pipes will come off for a spray job. I also bought the speedo drive parts for the front wheel from Granby's. I was going to use the magnetic bolt already fitted to the front disc, but the Acewell I have has a cable drive option, so I am going with that as it will look a bit neater than trying to run a pick up down to the disc. More soon. Dusty

Ilike the alloy cans ,have you run the engine yet , I have a theory that alloy cans sound better than the carbon ones ,the carbon looks great but there's nothing like the sound of a lc with expansions

Hi I ran the engine, for the first time since rebuilding it, just before I removed it from the Yamasaki. Only ran it for a couple of minutes as I was using a syringe to put premix down the petrol pipe ! It did sound nice with the Tsa's on it, first time I had heard them too. Once I get the carbs and loom on, I can run it up properly. Regards Dusty

Hi, Changed my mind again today !! I was going to use the Acewell all in one a speedo on this build, but I had the Lc clocks from the Yamasaki sat on the bench, so thought I would offer them up. Next thing, I am stripping the top yoke and drilling mounting holes in it . I felt that with the Lc headlight fitted, the Acewell looked a bit small sat on the bars, whereas the Lc clocks suit the front end quite well; Will need to get a couple of new cables for the clocks - possibly longer than standard. I have all the parts to fit the speedo drive now as well, so next time the bike is jacked up I'll fit that too. Dusty

Cheers fellas Offered up the seat again today. Just doesn't seem right to me to use wood on a motorbike, but in the absence of anything better, it is staying for the moment ! It serves to give a solid base for the seat to fix to, plus it will give a home to the battery too; Plan to get a smaller battery, maybe a 3a/h.. I also removed the oil tank as, initially, I am going premix. If I decide to go with a pump at a later date, I will get a small oil tank to live under the seat hump along with the battery. I also fitted the tacho cable today - standard Ypvs cable fitted fine thankfully. Dusty

Hi Andrew, How are you ? Did you get to Brands in the end ? Bit of a wet day to start The Lc clocks were a no brainer in the end. I kept looking at them on the shelf after I took them off the Yamasaki, and thought it was a waste not to use them, plus I do love the look of them, especially with the straight bars. They fit really well on the custom top yoke too - almost like it was "meant to be" Still have the Acewell as it's a nice bit of kit, but it didn't look right once I started adding all the other parts to the front end. Only thing I might add now is a small digital temp guage for a more accurate reading of temperature. It will use that bracket in the middle of the bars and is small enough to sit in the gap where the ignition barrel would go. Dusty

Hi, Got some more jobs done this week. The original speedo drive had been stripped out as I was going to use the Acewell originally, and that uses a pickup on the front disc. Now I am going with the Lc clocks, I resprayed a spare speedo drive and fitted that with a Ypvs speedo cable. I also stripped the 31k carbs to put them through my ultrasonic bath. Just as well really, coz the emulsion tubes were stuck fast with corrosion . Took ages to get each one out as they are easily damaged, plus they are Ledar tubes, so had to be really carefull !!. All went back together nicely, with some new 290 mains from Norbo. Fitted the carbs this afternoon, and adjusted the cables for the slides - quite an easy job with no airbox; After the disappointment of the YSS shock, I picked the phone up and ordered a Nitron shock, which should be ready in a couple of weeks hopefully. In the mean time I will fit the wiring loom and see what needs modding for the resited electrical boxes. Dusty

Cheers Jon, Always fancied a Nitron, just wanted my dwindling funds to stretch a bit further There is no doubt they are a quality shock, don't see many for sale second hand for any model of bike, let alone Rd's !! Real shame about the YSS, it looked fantastic value for money. The bike is coming on now. Wiring next, and hopefully wire in a toggle switch rather than the ignition barrel. I am also looking into getting the pipes ceramic coated. Had planned on using BBQ paint but I know petrol/oil will strip it off easily, whereas ceramic coating is impervious to all fluids in the bike. £165.00 for the pair though, so need to work out how much money I've got left, as I need to get the tank and seat sprayed, plus a seat pad. Never enough cash !! Regards Dusty

Hi The wooden base is a bit odd I know, but haven't founf anything else to do the job..yet Went to Kempton autojumble today - didn't need a lot really. Got some very small allen bolts and nyloc nuts so I could mount the rad guard I got from Norbo; I also got some angled aluminium so I could make a proper bracket for the resited ignition barrel When the tank and seat are on you cant see the ignition barrel so I'm pleased with that. You have to get down low to see it; I got a chain guard from Norbo, but will need to trim it to clear the side of the tyre. Dusty

Hi Chain guard is now on. I needed to cut a chunk out of it so it cleared the side wall of the tyre. I had thought about getting a blingy guard, as seen on ebay, but I felt the standard plastic guard would be easier to modify. The wiring loom is now fitted too. I had to strip some of it back so it could mate up with the resited components. I had to extend the battery wires to run to the back of the bike where the battery will be fixed under the seat hump. I bought a Lithium Ion battery from M&p, and it's a direct replacement ampage wise for a standard Ypvs battery. Fair bit smaller; But it's the weight that is the most amazing thing about the battery. The standard battery in the pic weighs 2466 grams. The Lithium is just 420 grams ! It came in a big box with lots of shredded cardboard, and I thought at first it had been left out ! The box and packing weighed as much as the battery . Not that many jobs left now really. I am going to have to spray the pipes with BBQ paint - I was thinking of ceramic coating but the funds wont stretch that far unfortunately. Finish the wiring connections, sort a seat pad out, spray job on the bodywork and fit the Nitron when it turns up ! Dusty

Hi Baz, Happy to share my experience. The front and rear end conversion is really easy, and, at the moment, far cheaper to source than some others. I have been looking at oil tank fitment recently. The original "Ugly Betty" tank will fit, but doesn't look quite right, plus I have now fitted the ignition barrel in the area the tank would occupy, so I have been scouring the net for a small ally tank to fit this build. I have looked at scores of overflow tanks, auxiliary tanks, puke and spit tanks - all sorts, but nothing that I think would look right. The tank cant fit under the seat hump as there will not be enough room, even with the smaller battery. The only place it can really go, and the best location really, is under the seat and above the welded in splash guard. So today, I made a rough mock up of how the tank needs to look; I have found a fella on ebay that makes bespoke tanks. Had a chat on the phone, and I will email some pics and dims tonight to get a price. It will be in 2mm ally that he will supply, cut and weld up. All dependant on price of course The Nitron shock is due for delivery today too. I'll post some pics when it turns up. Regards Dusty

There's always a solution but can take a lot of time and measuring etc. I cheated abit on my Hybrid (4l0 frame with ypvs engine) and run premix using the s stroke tank to mount the CDI and YPVS controller. Keep up the good work Dusty.
