Gary was transferred from Pinderfields hospital in Wakefield to the Leeds General Infirmary last Monday. He had an operation to pin his femur the following day, and was due to have his shoulder either pinned or plated yesterday. He has six broken ribs on one side and one on the other, so won't be up and about on his crutches until they have at least started to heal. Most of his pain is from internal bruising - the gate he hit is a huge solid thing and he wasn't going slowly when he met it. Another week or so and he should be much better, and everything is looking good for a full recovery. Ward 2 at the LGI if anyone is nearby and wants to visit him. Try not to make him laugh though Tempting section of road .. .. followed by gravel, and a gate ..

Get well soon... Bones heal quick.. Get your head straight before heading out again.. Miles from me but shout if I can do anything.

Poor Gary - all the best and a speedy recovery (and some nice strong pills to aid recovery ) I once broke five ribs falling off a KTM up a Welsh mountain a few years back - I had to ride the bike back to town offroad afterwards - but the pain didn't really kick in till the following day - and then the next eight to ten weeks - total nightmare. Bikes are fun but the risks get scarier and more real the older we get eh? Speedy Recovery Gazza, JB
