Hi, I put it in my watch list, just out of noseyness, to see how much it went for.... That was a bit of a shocker, I didnt think it would go for that much. steven.

Hi, So how does a 4L1/4L0 engine compare to a YPVS engine? Is a 4L1/4L0 engine more or less sought after than a YPVs one? What is worth more? or is it just dependant on how desperate a particular buyer is prepared to pay? I was watching a 4L0 frame too, with a log book, it went for £410.....which was also a shocker! steven.

Hi, The price of engines has gone up dramatically in the last couple of years. I sold an Lc350 engine that had held water in it and needed a complete rebuild for £300.00 2 years ago and the fella would have paid more for it. I bought an F2 engine at the same time for £300 complete but then spent a fortune rebuilding it. The engine in my Yamasaki owes me a lot of money as it is completely rebuilt, and if you do a rebuild right with genuine Yam parts it is gonna cost you. Any engine you buy second hand is gonna be a gamble, but that doesn't seem to stop the prices rising.

I've gotta own up. I won the auction. By default. My bid was supposed to be £490.00 In my haste at the end I typed in £49,000 Pm'd the seller straight away to inform him of my error. And to apologise. And that I would not be paying £770 and to give the next bidder second chance.

Start the bidding at the least you'd accept for it. Post that amount up here and you might get a bite if your lucky. But at the end of the day, they're your bits, and you can ask what you like for them. Best of luck.

Erm.. It sold for 770 ! Only in England could this happen. Real question is : Why.. is this happening? Perhaps some Fool is planning to 'Restore' a Yama, then sell it on, to fund a retirement in the South of France.. where they Hate Brits :-) This is every bit as (perhaps even a Lot more) Stupid: coxengines.ca/oem-cox-boxed-engines/ Are the brain fogged Geriatrics with Selective memories.. Buying up anything that they once couldn't have??

He probably needs £750 for something or other so decided to get the spray cans and home plating kit out. You never know though, I bought a 350LC complete motor 8 years ago for £150. When I stripped it, it had new pistons/bores & rebuilt crank!

New crank and pistons, you were lucky with that one, be interesting to see what the one on ebay goes for, watching it myself for future special

The last one I bought, I paid £50 for in Stafford show.
The funny thing is, I offered him £80 for the same motor at Donington show a few months previously.
Ok, it was seized from being stood, but was a very low mileage lump, never rebored or stripped. Happy days!

Agreed that ypvs motors will be at that mark soon they are in high demand and short supply, the laws of economics will make the prices rise. Before I bought my n1 I was going to build a mito 350 and was looking for a motor - I struggled to find one anywhere.. Then the n turned up so I went for that instead.

The price of engines justifies what I paid for my Tzr project bike. I went and heard/saw it running before I bought it, and though the bike was in need of a revamp, I knew a running Ypvs engine was worth what I paid for the bike. The price of these isn't going down for a long time yet, and the amount of different types of hybrid getting built with these motors is increasing ie. Tzr 125's and 250's, Mito's, Lc's, I've seen Kr1/Ypvs, Kr1s/Ypvs, Laverda/Ypvs to name a few. Virtually all parts are still available for them, both standard/pattern and trick, and they are easy to work on and rebuild and generally reliable. It's no wonder people want them and that puts the price up. What is shocking is the rate at which the value is climbing. I bought an F2 engine just over 2 years ago for the hybrid Lc I built, and it cost me £300.00. Bet it would cost me double that now for the same condition motor. Wish I had a few in the shed !! Dusty

Fully agree Dusty, lucky for me I bought a few spares a few years ago because a grand would be way out of my budget for a YPVS motor.
