i put a 120 BT45 on the rear and it made a massive improvement, the bike being much more stable with the slightly wider rear.

Hi Ozzie, when you say you run those sizes on your 250 what sizes exactly? hi my 250lc runs a avon roadrider am26 100/90 front & a avon am23 130/70 , i do run these with tubes in but as i said before Nail Mckenzie told in his LC rebuild articial that he could run roadriders tubeless on an LC to be honest tyres have come on a long way since 1980 ish the choice is yours bud , but better safe than sorry i think

The best size tyres are the size recommended for your rim size. The RDLCs have 18"x1.85" rims. The Bridgestone web site shows recommended rim size for 90/90 18 is 2.15" with an acceptable rim size between 1.85" and 2.5". For racing or sports riding you are best off with narrow tyres. I have won many races using Bridgestone BT39SS rear 100/90 (measured width on 1.85 rim is 95mm) and race compound Sava 90/90 rear (even better).

Avon Am22/23 110 on the front and 130 on the rear. Not sure I'd want to run them on the road though . . . .
