Got my Red Black 500 back running. Finished fitting the carbs today, cut the throttle cables. The left ones were just too long. finished up the wiring, added coolant. All new fuel lines. Added fuel and fired her up. It’s been a year since I fried it. Sounds class

Yes unfortunately they are all mine 1 4l0 late already built 1 4l0 early still to finish bits n bobs a 4l1 bottom with late 4l0 barrels a 4l1 bottom with fahron topend a 4l1 with fast road tuned topend and a std 250 and a ypvs there are worse things to waste your money on . Started building an lc yesterday its surprising how far you can get when you have most parts ready to go on. I find its easier to build engines in series as you dont miss anything out along the way got another 2 bikes to start very soon and 5 10v dt125lc,s after that .

We were throwing an old picture frame out until I decided to repurpose it for the garage. Some of the bikes I have owned and modded over the years 20200121_203626 by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

Well not my bike but I repaired the threads with 10mm Timeserts on the lower crankcases of a RD350LC that someone had kindly stripped while restoring and then sold to my mate along with a million and one other things to put right. I think the seller has a 3 pointed hat and a mask, described 90% done? £500 and counting on the last 10% 2020-01-25_07-06-32 by richard parrott, on Flickr thumbnail_20200125_094604 by richard parrott, on Flickr

Received a present from my brother today, after crying about the state of the porting that some animal had done on my barrels he sent me a complete top end with barrels on standard bores. What a hero.

Picked up a complete 4L0 matching number uk bike last month for £1K, knowing it hasn’t run for at least 8 years.
Seller parked it up after front brakes seized, shortly after having the engine “professionally “ rebuilt.
(My hybrid 4L1 ypvs rebuild has not progressed in the last 10 years)
So far every single thing on the bike has been found to be bodged or miss assembled!
Never mind was sort of expecting it.
Plan A was to fix brakes & electrics, mot it then strip motor and fit new crank seals on a rebuilt crank.
Cleaned carbs, adjusted floats so fuel could get in, fired up motor, head gasket blew and pressurised system.
Bang goes plan A.
Checked squish before motor out, 2.5 mm lhs 3.0 rhs ?
Carefully screwed in flywheel puller in preparation for the anticipated fight to remove flywheel, flywheel fell off in my hand ! Tapers not pretty but hopefully save able.
Also noted that frame is bent around side stand lug, either crash damage or fat lump sat on it on side stand.
Finished off fixing all the bodged electrics today.
Hoping to give the crankshaft a Holiday with Dave Hodgkinson in a months time.
Bracing myself for the state of the barrels and why the difference in squish...

Fitted renthall super bike bars instead of the micron ace bars, and the pro am fairing bracket, had to re route the clutch cable and brake line looks better got to paint the fairing to match the bike then got to run it in before it goes to daves for a pair of one off pipes.

Dropped the chassis and lump off with the pipe man for pipe building. Good to get it out of the way for a bit so I can focus on a few other things and keep Mrs Indoors happy.* * Who'm I kidding, moving on to the bodywork now!
