Re-assembled my clutch temporarily on my LC rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/43560/lc-clutch-surprise?page=2&scrollTo=399800Also swapped the two oil feeds at the pump and the left-side exhaust now smokes about evenly with the right. Fitted new valve block rubbers and airbox rubbers too. Wilst in that process I opened the carbs to have a look and got another surprise - in the one carb some ham-fisted mechanic destroyed the scredriver slot of the pilot jet and in the other carb the main jet just rotated but is stuck and because of the washer I cannot yet see what the problem is. So there is another job for the engineers in future. The needle jets are also ancient with hardly and spring pressure. Threw out the plastic see-through oil feed pipes and replaced it with black pipes which I think look better on the bike. Took it out for a ride and all went well until I got back and noticed droplets of two stroke oil on the bottom engine casing. With my luck it turns out to be the base gasket leaking at the front of the bike and not just a leak at the exhaust fittings. Just another reason to re-do the engine soon. It seems in this bike's case that the mechanicals of the previous engine rebuild is probably fine, but the build is being let-down by the use of bad quality seals and gaskets and a lack of care to ensure that there are no leaks (e.g. leak-down test) prior to final assembly. Aah well, it will keep me busy in the garage for some time which is not such a bad thing.

I rode my 31k today after rebuilding the forks yesterday with new seals and Hagon progressive springs.
I was a bit concerned after reading some reviews but have to say i am very impressed.

Told her "I'm sorry for crashing her 7 months ago, and I'll start as soon as possible to make things right" "I love you".

Well on my project, I put the speedo cable on, filled up the gear box with oil and put the rest of the air box and new air filter in. On my everyday LC . I topped up the 2t oil and thrashed the living sh#t out of it. I just can't help it. I'm a bit juvenile at times.

Not so much as blew it as it whimpered out after a few miles, mine started leaking last week after 14 miles, was a genuine part and torqued as it should, no obvious pitting on barrels or head..Anyway put it back together with a new gasket this morning, Jessy03 lent me some Permatex Copper gasket spray to use and so far, after a few short runs, it seems to be water tight, I hope yours is as simple a fix.

Not strictly today, story starts last week.
Thought I'd finally finished the 400 ac engine build for Rod
Was well happy till a little doubt crept into my head about the squish as barrels are tuned and heads have been machined down and the chambers recut
0.6mm
Bugger!
Thicker gaskets arrived today so all back together

I played it safe and ended up at 1.1mm Reckoned on an old air cooler with unknown tune and recut domes I'd be pushing it Especially with today's unleaded Steve

Took the LC2 for its MOT. First ride with MikesXS emulators fitted. Wow what an improvement. The only problem is that the brakes now feel very poor without the masses of fork dive I had before.

Painted the underside of the tank, fitted new dials in the rev counter, painted the needle too, and started cleaning up an FZR400 rear wheel.

I will go to a more "Classic friendly" bike shop, it was the wee bit of sun that reminded me that I need a battery. Cheers, Steven.

Sun was shining and a cracking day, so dusted her off ' fired up first kick, then went for a 50 mile ride out, ran absolutely perfect. Good old elsie your now worth all that care/money and attention i sometimes enjoyed spending with you over the last 2 years getting you to perfection. Well worth it now and looking forwards to some more trouble free rides out.

Had my first proper run out since Dave Whattam built the engine and dyno'd carbs, i cant stop smiling. All the sports bikes and nakeds at the usual haunts in Northumberland didnt stand a chance. Tried chucking it at some corners and was very surprised how it handled just the brakes that keep you on your toes :-) LC playing out by Kevin Monaghan, on Flickr
