Stipped motor yesterday - i have never had to bottom end apart before and i have had it since '84- and found the screw missing and the perished 'o' ring on the r/h crank oil seal , there is no sign of the screw anywhere but the motor must of been apart before i bought it as there is a few signs of blue gasket sealer on the crankcase halves, but all the rest seems ok so going to start to clean it all up now. i think the 'o' ring has broke down over time as it was early 90's when it was last ran - hopefully no more shocks!

I have a full seal kit ready and waiting thanks - forgot about my crank having some damage on the end due to flywheel coming loose years ago so will be using my spare crank and looking at changing the end web at some point in future

Well the long slow build is finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel! Got it out into the garden today and it lives! The tank is just a spare while Mark in Derby sprays my new set but it was good to hear the crackle of the pipes again! dog not happy been left inside but he is not marking his territory here! yes thats smoke from the pipes! just will need a bit of setting up when paintwork comes back in March.

Hi, Well done. It's a great feeling when they fire up after a rebuild. Allspeeds look great - one of the best looking pipes for these bikes imo. Dusty

I've got maxxis on my Mars bar hybrid, weird at first, but once scrubbed in very happy. PS, going back to tidy garages with nice LC decorations everywhere , mine is too, infact more orderly than the house but that's full of women!

All the bits I haven't used are back in storage now so just waiting on paintwork and then put the tank what's on now into hibernation - got myself a few none motorbike projects for garage now ,one been making a 4 seated bike to go to pub on to stop me and mates falling off!!

Great progress.... eventually.
Looks good, keep going. I think your tank set is keeping Mark's spray booth warm for mine! Also liking the c**ky angle you park your bike in the garage.
I'm glad that someone's project is a bit slower than mine. Lol.
Your's should be ready for summer I reckon. Enjoy it.

Garage is realy narrow so have to park at funny angles but at least its warm and dry - Mark is doing 2 sets of bodywork for me so hopefully I will be getting a call soon from him to collect, I am like most people on here with to many projects on the go I am in the process of making a 4 seater bike to go to the pub on with my mates to stop us falling off on the way home! And here is another pic of the dog posing in the back of my car - not a bike but he has sat in the garage with me throughout my long build and never moaned(unlike some of the household!!)
