Hi All, Just thought I'd say hello. I picked up my first LC on Sunday. A bit of a basket case 250LC 4L1. I say Basket case but that's a little unfair as under the very very tatty cosmetic bits there appears to be a decent bike under there. The all important numbers match and although I bought it as a non runner within half an hour of getting her home she was up and ticking over sweetly. I do however have a shopping list as long as my arm, I'll post a list of bits I'm after in a different thread, you never know what might be lying about redundant! I've been asked by a few people how far I'm going to go with the restoration, my answer is that it'll be lovely but not concourse, but it will be lovely! I took a quick Vid of her first running after 8 years, I think she runs very well considering I literally splashed some fuel in the tank (Which I had to break into) and re attached the HT caps. The carbs are bound to be gungy and the plugs are cruddy. I only ran it up so I could hear if the backside was hanging out of it before I strip it down for a full inspection. There is a vibrating rattle when I rev her up but I think it's something resonating under the tank??? Have a listen to the video, it may be a tell take 'LC' problem??? The work starts tonight!! Here is the gallery. flic.kr/s/aHsjwZRFTtHere is the video I look forward to getting in amongst it all! Chris.

I'm debating what to do about the pipes, are there any advantages / disadvantages to having these pipes? My gut it tell me to put them back to standard. What is your advise on this? That's interesting about the clutch cover, that would explain why the replacement water / oil pump cover I've bought is different to the one that's on there, I've not offered it up yet so don't know the score. Any help would be greatly appreciated

So .... Last night I continued stripping the old girl down. All in all not a bad evening's work. The engine seems in decent condition. The bores are measuring 54.5mm so haven't been overly raped, the piston and bores are in excellent condition. I'll let the pictures do the talking! flic.kr/s/aHsjx6g2jz

Thats not looking to good is it . Youll fined a new one no probs they are not a rare part . I've managed to find a decent one in Germany so that's on it's way. All I need now is a set of standard pipes and the clock mounting bushes / spacers .......
